Eva was an angel. At least, that's what her parents believed; that God himself had sent the child down to earth to bestow her presence upon Joseph and Kristin Lacroix. She was their first born, the first human being Kristin had carried in her uterus for nine months. The first child Joseph and Kristin had become parents to, but she was their second true love. Fore, Joseph and Kristin were each others first and only true love.
Very religious were Joseph and Kristin, whom both themselves had come from religious parents. The child, born on Christmas day, the same day that Christ himself was born, was given the name Evangeline. Both her parents believed that she'd been sent down to them as a message from God, hence the meaning of the name Evangeline, "bearer of good news", only, Evangeline was the good news. Tan was the color of her skin, soft and delicate as ever. Her eyes a deep brown, so warm and full of innocence. Hair a hazelnut brown, softer than a feather. Her cheeks as pink as the sunset when she laughed. Whenever she had gas, she would scrunch her face up in the cutest way that made everyone around her coo in awe. She was everything they'd dreamed of.
When she learned to speak, Kristin was convinced that Evangeline was an angel; simply because she had the voice of an angel. It wasn't until Evangeline learned to walk was that her parents realized she was actually quite the troublemaker. She would climb out of her crib whenever she was put down for a nap, late nights she would make her way to the refrigerator in the kitchen where she'd learned her mother kept the frosting she used for her cakes and whatever goods she would bake. Kristine would often hide the frosting from the child in a new place, though it would be found again two days later so any efforts Kristin put in were completely useless. Playing with power sockets, slamming cabinet doors shut, pulling out electrical wires from their sockets. Anything troublesome that a toddler could do, Evangeline did it.
Two years after the birth of Evangeline came the birth of Angelina Lacroix. Similar names were not the only thing they had in common. Angelina looked just like her older sister; the hair, the eyes, everything down to their button nose. The only difference being that Angelina's cheeks stayed chubby whereas Evangeline grew out of hers (mostly. They're still very visible.) around thirteen when puberty hit. A year after the birth of Angelina came D'Angelo Lacroix, whom looked nothing like his sisters. They looked more like Kristin while D'Angelo looked like Joseph. A happy family they were. You could practically feel the love being shoved down your throat when you walked into the Lacroix residence. Evangeline never thought she could feel a love as great as the one she got from her family, but that all changed on her fifteenth birthday.
