1st of July 2015; that is the day that David and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary. David and I were only eleven years old when we met, technically David was twelve but we connected straight away well as much an eleven-year-old can.
It was during our first year of comp on a random day in February, but a significant day to myself, that we meet. I was walking past a group of boys, one who is now Charity's (my best-friend) current boyfriend, unfortunately, they started making fun of the Harry Potter bag that I was carrying because when your eleven apparently there is nothing better to do.
"Oh my God," Joe called, "Harry Potter? could you get any more childish? Grow up why don't you" earning snippets of laughter from his posse
"Yeah, everybody knows Harry Potter is for nerds!" Another one of the jackass' engaged into this educational discussion and when I say discussion I mean popular children raised to think they are Gods gift to the world and out to ruin anyone's delightful day. However, I had someone watching out for me. David. And he must have heard what was going on because he headed straight towards us like a moth to a flame.
"These morons bothering you?" He asked me in his adorable English accent and I just nodded nervously. "Thought so. Alright leave her alone otherwise your gonna have me to deal with." He warned the leader of this notorious gang.
"Oh and what are you gonna do? Tell on us?" The leader aka jackass number one replied sarcastically.
"No, but I will tell your little group of lap dogs that you're a total hypocrite considering you have a doctor who themed room and a Harry Potter poster on your wall." And then David looked at me and winked before turning back to Joe whose smug exterior had vanished now replaced with the expression of utter and he horror backed off immediately.
"T-thanks." I stuttered to a boy whose very presence made me smile with excitement.
"It's no problem, really" He chuckled "I'm David."
"Angela," I replied, shaking the hand that he'd placed out in front of me which helped me build up the nerve to start talking to him more and by more I mean to have the ability to speak full sentences to him.
For the next few months, David and I started hanging out together; allowing us to get to know each other very well. I learnt that he only moved to Wales a few months before we started school which neglected him the ability to develop new friendships before the school year started. His family moved down from Rochester because his dad got a really good job offer for a construction firm. He eventually asked me out but if you ask for my opinion it took him long enough however he did it by taking me to the school field and giving me a bunch of daisies, and I can happily report that we've been together ever since and hopefully will be for a long time. I have loved David ever since our first meeting on that dreadful day because he was my knight in shining armour and I just knew he would always be there to protect me, no matter what.
On the morning of our anniversary, I awoke to a lovely text from David to greet me. "Hey, gorgeous girl. Happy anniversary. I can't wait to spend the day with you. Six years ago today I asked the most wonderful human being in my life to be mine and I'm so grateful I have you by my side. I love you, baby. Always xx"
"Aww. That's adorable. I'll love you always to baby. I can't wait to spend the day with you either. I shall see you at eleven handsome. Happy anniversary. xx" the message he had sent had really warmed my heart and I really couldn't wait to see him. I jumped out of bed and into the shower because I definitely overslept; David was coming to pick me up at eleven for our glorious day filled with exciting activities and excellent company and it was ten thirty.
After the shower, I did my makeup, dressed into a nice summery dress that was white with blue flowers on and hung just above the knee. I curled my hair and placed a blue headband into it to add a bit of contrast to my dark hair. Just as I finished, I hear the jingle of keys in the front door which results in me bolting down the stairs to greet David who'd spent the morning working with his dad. He'd been very secretive about the work he and his dad had been doing together but I didn't mind because I had a sneaky feeling he might have been participating in some girls room helping his father out with a few construction acts and wouldn't want me getting jealous. I've told David I'm really not the jealous type; if I saw a girl hitting on David I would literally do nothing but say 'I like your taste it men'.
David opened the door and walked straight to me which I then greeted him with a hug and kiss that he deserved.
"What a nice welcome home." He chuckled and looked at me "God damn. You look so gorgeous."
"Well, I try and thanks. You don't look so bad yourself mister." referring to the navy blazer and jeans he was wearing that's made him so, so hot that's I just wanted to jump on him right there and then but I restrained myself from doing so. David takes a step forward and kisses my cheek before reaching for my hand.
"Are you ready to go?" He whispered in my ear, I nodded my reply as I didn't trust that my voice would crack with desire. I think tonight is the night, I will finally tell David that I am ready, ready to take our relationship to the next level.
He led me out the front door and directed me towards his car where he drives us to the cinema; the evening resulted in both of us laughing our heads off at the showing of Ted 2 before heading to the most romantic restaurant in town but as it's French and we were both unable to pronounce the name properly.
"Jackson. Table for two" says David to the very pretty hostess.
"Right this way sir." David takes my hand and follows the hostess to the back of the restaurant where she leads us through the parting in the red silk curtains. I walk through the curtains where a single table with a red cloth draped over, a single red candle In the middle and two chairs either side is revealed to me. I stand in the mood-lit room and look at David in amazement.
"Happy anniversary baby, " revealing that this was all his doing.
"This is wonderful. I love it so much" and I kiss him before he walks over to one of the chairs, pulls it out and gestures for me to sit which I do so. The hostess smiles at the pair of us before handing us a menu each and tells us to enjoy our meal before leaving.
"I can't believe you did all my this,"
"Only the best for you." and then he placed a long black box on the table and slid it over to me. I opened the box which exposes the most beautiful thing I have ever seen; A silver heart locket that has a small diamond in the middle. I gently took the locket out of the box and open it; one side of the locket is filled with a picture of me and David with our families together but the other side is empty.
"It's so beautiful. Thank you so much. But why is one side empty."
"Well I was hoping we could fill that side," he said before reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a small box "on our wedding day." I gasp and he turns the box to me and opens the box. Inside, the box is a small, silver, ring and in the centre of the ring is a small glistening diamond. David stands up and walks over to me and bends down onto one knee.
"Angela Mason would you do me the extraordinary honour of becoming my wife. I know we're young but.."
"Yes." I interrupted and practically jumped into his arms to give him a massive hug.
The rest of the meal was absolutely perfect. We both ordered the steak pie and sat talking about our future together; and how much our parents were going to kill us but we didn't care. Nothing was going to stop us.
After the meal David drove us back to his and half way up the steps to the front door, I decided I could no longer wait and kissed David and whisper in his ear something we have been wanting to hear for a while.
"I'm ready"
"Ang, are you sure?" And I nod before taking the keys out of his hand and opening the front door and entering. When we are both inside David swoops me up into his arms, causing me to chuckle, and carries me upstairs and into his bedroom.
The night couldn't have been more perfect
