Pet to the Demon Master

Chapter Three

I got to the kitchen and was met by a maid called 'Kelly'. She seemed nice enough, though a bit quiet, but she gave me food so that got her in my good books. Tonight we were having a type of pasta dish, salad and herb bread.

"So are you going to eat with me?" I asked Kelly who was sort of just standing there awkwardly.

"No, I eat in the servant's hall with the others" She said.

"Oh... Why don't I eat there?" I asked.

"Umm I am not really sure, I guess you are different in some way. You also don't have to wear a uniform so..." She replied awkwardly.

"Oh." I said and quickly finished my dinner.

When I was done, Kelly said a quick goodnight and left me alone in the kitchen.

I feel a bit lonely, why does everyone else eat and work together, and I'm just sort of left alone with Master. Have I done something wrong? Am I incapable of working or something? They didn't teach us this kind of thing at the nursery, what do I even do here?

My shoulders slumped and I slowly made my way back to my room.

The halls were very dark and scary at this time of night, there were lots of moving shadows from the trees outside the windows and that just added to the creepy atmosphere. As I turned another corner, I realized I was lost.

'What do I do now?' I thought to myself. 'Maybe I'll try to retrace my footsteps back to the kitchen'.

I turned around and started to come back the way I came when I was met with a pair of dark red eyes at the end of the corridor. A thick layer of mist had suddenly appeared and was preventing me from seeing any more than the outline of the creature before me.

My hands stand to get sweaty and I start to shake as the pair of eyes approach me at a fast pace. I close my eyes and wrap my hands around my body, bracing myself for the worst.

Tears drip down my cheeks as a pair of strong arms wrap around me from behind.

"Why are you crying pet?" Master asks me in a soothing voice.

I bury my face in his chest.

"You scared-d me Master" I whimpered.

"Sorry Jay. I didn't mean to, just you were standing outside the door for my office and I thought you were going to disobey me by entering" He said calmly.

I shook my head against his chest.

"So sorry Sir, I got lost, I hadn't realised that I was here. Sorry Master" I sobbed. Was he going to punish me? I don't want to be punished, I haven't done anything. I just got lost and-

My thoughts are interrupted by Master's voice "don't worry Jay, you aren't going to be punished" He soothed.

We stayed there for a few moments longer while I gathered myself mentally. Then Master led me back to my room and lay me on my bed. It was cold in my room but I didn't want to complain so I didn't say anything.

"Nocte os meum bonum dulcem declinans lumina somniim bene" Master whispered into my ear as I closed my eyes.
