Chapter 14: Surprise

Alex's *POV*

I smile as I hand the nice woman her coffee, my job went from Burger King in England to Starbucks in America a little to fast. I had bigger plans than this but I have to start somewhere. From this day on I will save every penny and aim high.

I check the time and go in the back, my shift is finished. My phone vibrates as I walk out side into the hot LA weather, I reach into my pocket and see that Katie is calling, causing me to smile. I look at the people around me as I greet my favorite girl in the world on the phone.

Katie's *POV*

Pick up, pick up, pick up.

"Sup girlie!" I hear her shout into the phone as I watch the boys in One Direction walking in front of me, if only Alex knew that her brother and crush are in LA.

"Hey Alex!" I greet her and notice two of the boys tense up and stop, they look around and I try not to he noticeable.

I smile a bit and walk closer to them.

"Kate! How's life back home? Miss you!" I hear her say and I smile at how loud she is. I can imagine her having her big silly smile stretching from cheek to cheek. She thinks I'm in England, silly girl.

"Life is great! I moved to London and... Guess who I saw!" I tell her teasingly and I hear her laugh. The boys look at me and I wave, knowing Liam knows me.

"I don't know, I give up!" I hear her say and I hear some noise on the other line but choose to ignore it.

"One Direction." I say simply and Liam starts to walk over, I know Liam he's Alex's brother and the other one is Zayn, Alex's lover boy.

"What?!" I hear on the phone but I just walk to the boys, hanging up the phone.

"Hi, I'm Katie and I'm Alex's best friend... She apparently came here to "find herself" but I know it's not that. She has a history with running away from her problems, and that is what she did, she will always deny it though. Alex is a though nut to crack. I want you guys to find her and solve this!" I tell them, mostly looking at Liam since he's her brother. His big brown eyes, identical to Alex's, looked confused

Alex's *POV*

"What?!" I shout, making some people and creeps look at me.

"Kate!" I whisper yell into the phone until I just give up and hang up.

I keep walking home until I see an alley to take a shortcut. I scrunch my nose up at the smell but keep walking, I hear some footsteps but brush it off thinking it's the echo of mine.

I'm half way out of when a hand grabs my wrist and pulls me back. Someone slams me against the wall.

Zayn's *POV*

I stare at Katie, waiting for her to say more but she doesn't.

She dials some number and presses her phone to her ear.

"C'mon Alex pick up the phone." I hear her whisper into the phone. She's calling alex.

"I was going to tell her I was in America, but I hung up on her to talk to you... But she isn't picking up her phone." She says worriedly as she looks around like she's see Alex walking around here.

"Wait, she doesn't know that all of us are here?" Liam asks her as he sits down on a bench, me and the girl follow the action.

"No, she's trying not to follow a lot of One Direction news quite a lot." She tries to explain, but her focus on her phone.

"So you were talking to her on your phone and now she isn't answering?" Liam asks Katie as she looks around once again.

"I'm a bit confus-"

"Sssh!" She shusses me. All of the sudden we hear a gunshot and Katie starts running away and we follow her until we reach an alley.

"No!" She screams and I see a girl lying there.

Alex's *POV*

I look at the big guy but it's to dark in this alley to see him. I feel something on my stomach when I look down I only gasp when I see the gun.

"No, please." I whisper to him but he only grins at me.

"I'm just here to collect your money and if yo co-operate nothing will happen." I tells me and I try to nod but I'm still staring at the gun in his hand.

"Get me your wallet and everything valuable." He says and I nod quickly.

I reach for my wallet and look at a picture of me and Liam when I was four and he was five, I was wearing small jeans and a barbie sweater, while Liam was wearing swim trunks because he was jumping through a sprinkler that day, we are both smiling big but Liam is missing one tooth.

I don't realize how long I was staring at it until the guy coughs and I start to take the money out.

"No, just tho whole wallet." He says and I look at the picture again.

"No, there's a picture in it that I nee-" I get cut of by a gun shot, then all I hear is footsteps, I look down at the big red spot on my stomach growing with every drop of blood. I gasp as I fall down on the ground trying to breath, not succeeding.

All I hear is someone screaming then everything turns black.
