Almost instantly, though, Elle clasped her bra and giggled. I still wasn't quite sure what to think, so I just giggled too. "I forgot to call the boys!"

"oh Elle that's sweet but I just got out of a bad relationship and don't really want to date anyone right now," am I a loser for saying this?

"Aw that's cute, but no we don't date these boys. We break their hearts."

I still didn't know what to do, so I just followed Elle's lead. Apparently the really cute boys weren't available tonight, and I should "practice" on these lesser cute boys.

"We have 15 minutes to prepare you."

Prepare me? For what? Elle motioned me to her vanity, one of those retro ones with the huge lightbulbs around the mirror. She pulled back my loose curls with a pink ribbon, gave me a sweet pink lip, and drew her signature heart on my cheek.

"But Elle, this is all so sweet looking! shouldn't I look less innocent to try and get this guy to like me?" I was terribly confused. I mean, i look really cute, but I didn't think guys go for this look?

"Honey, do you want to be a heartbreaker or a street walker? Rule number four of being a heartbreaker: look pure and he'll always want more!"

Four rules? maybe more? how will I remember all of this?

"Oh I guess that makes sense! But what are the other rules?" I'm almost embarrassed to ask, she's totally going to judge me for not knowing something so simple as how to break hearts.

"Oh don't worry Marina, ill teach you. I've got the science down to four major rules. You already know the fourth. Rule number one is to have fun. Breaking hearts is fun, you get to kiss boys and no feelings are attached. so really just have fun with it! But you MUST break up with him first, before things even get bad. Catch him off guard and break his heart. the second rule is to choose someone that you can't get attached to. Don't choose your friend or someone similar to you. No feelings for him, okay?"

"Got it. the other rule?"

Elle put her face next to mine and looked in the mirror.

"Never wear your heart on your sleeve, only your cheek."

She flipped her hair and walked to her closet, leaving me to memorize the rules. they seem simple enough, and now I'm excited to try them out. except that my clothes aren't really heartbreaker material. As if she read my mind, a black slip whizzed past me.

"Elle! I can't wear a slip as a dress! what happened to being pure?"

"Purely dangerous, my dear. You have to have a little something to pull him in! and besides, we're going swimming, so that will totally cover you up."

Elle left her hair in loose waves and wore a pink polka dot bikini. apparently it's okay for her to show more skin because she already has a "fling" with this guy. I think she said his name is Barrie. And Barrie's friend is an accountant named Ryan. "He has money, but is boring as hell, so you can get free things and not get attached." Elle tells me more about the boys as we make more drinks downstairs. she has a huge liquor cabinet, so for kicks we both take cake flavored vodka shots. we're about to start on strawberry icecream flavored vodka when the doorbell rings. We invite the boys in for the next round of shots, and that's when things got fuzzy.
