I crawl in beside Anne and Rebekka; waiting to hear seven knocks. The whole of the barrack is so full; I can’t believe we all fit inside and that they would put so many people in one. I wait and wait, until finally I hear, one….two….three….four….five….six….seven knocks!

Quickly, but quietly I slip out of the ‘bed’ and creep towards the door. Slowly and steadily I pull the door open. There he is! He passes me a thick, warm blanket which I wrap around myself. Eadmund motions for me to go back inside. Confused, I do what he says. I turn around to close the door but then I see him coming in as well with a lighter. My heart skips a beat; just the sight of him makes me swoon. He takes his coat off to reveal he is wearing the striped uniform as well.

“Disguise” He says and winks at me.

“What is your name?”

“Eva, you name’s Eadmund, am I right?”

“Yes you are. I am not here to hurt you; I am here because I want to be with you.”

“I know, that is the same for me. Will you come every night?”

“I will try, but I may not be able to every night my dear.”

“My sister is finding it very tough and I know for her to survive for a longer period of time she needs to eat more to build her strength as she has only just turned fifteen.”

“I see. I will try and bring food but I can’t promise anything. I despise what is happening here, but I had no choice as they forced me to join. I am so sorry.”

“Eadmund, please, I know it’s not your fault and I know Hitler is the one who made this all happen.”

“I’m so sorry.”

We both start sobbing and we embrace into each others arms.
