I looked at him and then to Grandmother. She was looking at him now with a knowing smile, "Now, now." She says softly. And I stare at him. I'm halfway waiting for Beast Argo to burst through and attack me again. I grit my teeth as he looks up from his plate and stares at Grandmother.
"When are you going to tell her. She won't believe me." He growls and each word drips with that inhuman sound. I begin to shrink away from him in slight fear, but something tells me he won't harm me despite everything. "We have to show her." Grandmother says as I watch her finish her dinner. I stare down at my plate before I push my chair out and stand up.
"I'm sick of this. Please will someone explain all of this damn nonesense to me!" I cry and they both look at me a bit surprised. I'm fucking sick of this! I don't understand any of this and I want to so desperately. I think I'm falling for Argo despite his actions......Wait, no. I can't fall in love. Not with him anyways! God! why is this so confusing, do I love him or do I hate him? As I argue with myself I watch Argo and Grandmother stand and nod to each other. I shake my head to knock my thoughts away as Grandmother offers me her soft smile and behind her brown irises I see a bit of mischief.
"Sorona, we will explain after we show you. Now, follow me to the basement." she says and I stare at her wide eyed. I'm never supposed to go to the basement. NEVER! I gulp as Argo reaches for my hand, but I hesitate to let him have it. "Explain now." I demand as I rip my hand away from him and clench it into a fist. I'm done with this inderect answering. "You won't believe us. Now, come and I will show you and then explain." she says and I see she is a bit frustrated. I open my mouth once more, but my voice is gone again. Damn!
I relax my hands and feel Argo snap his around my right one. I look at him and he smirks at me. That damn smirk! I blush as he yanks me past the table and in seconds we are by the basement door. Grandmother holds the door open and gestures for us to walk down. I feel Argo hesitate and he grips my hand a bit too tight. I look at him, hoping he'd let go, but instead I watch him gulp and take the first step down. I follow and we take the steps one at a time, trying not to get to our destination too hastily. I'm beginning to dread as we get to the bottom of the stairs. I can feel the cold cement through my socks and the temperature has dropped about five degrees below the upstair's. I look around the dimly lit basement and gulp.
Over to the side is a table and on it sit books and herbs, a crystal orb and viles of liquid that I don't even want to think about. I believe throughouly in God and am a great christian, but Grandmother isn't so I can understand why she is standing closest to the table without wincing. I think Argo feels it's wrong too because he steps back one time and it's like he's trying to hide behind me again, but our hands never unwind and I intertwine our fingers again so that we can comfort each other. This place is just too creepy and despite it being Grandmother's I hate it. I hate all of it.
It takes a moment to get used to the dark and when I do I see the giant pentagram drawn in white on the floor. My breathe catches in my throat and a thought occurs to me. Grandmother has been called out for being not right in the head. What if she's snapped? What if she has truly gone mad and Argo is just as sick. What if they are both planning to do something bad to me? I attempt to untangle my fingers from Argo's, but he's gripping it as his eyes are on something on the table. I follow his vision and see what looks to be a gun and shining silver bullets. I pause, she's going to shoot us. Grandmother has gone berserk and is going to kill us?!
"Linxi, why do you have that?" he whispers and despite the quietness of it, his words echo against the concrete room. "Just in case, the beast really can't stand to not be with Sorona before she understands. I will kill you if you or he attack her," Grandmother says with a sad smile and I see Argo nod in agreement. "Now, Sorona. You won't believe words so we are going to send you back into our memories to prove we are right." Grandmother says as she picks up a thick brown book and opens it to a random page before flipping through. I open my mouth, but my voice is gone again. Damn, you old woman!
