"Lucy! Don't do this!" Juvia screamed while holding an unconscious Gray in her arms.

"I'm so sorry everyone." Lucy whispered as a tear slipped down her face.

For she knew that this was the only way to stop...him.

She walked further and further towards the source of the flames that were roaring all around her, almost swallowing her whole.

She stopped as she heard a demonic voice sing her name," Lu-cyy."

Slowly, he turned around and stalked towards her.

With a bloody claw, he brushed a stray hair from her cheek.

And four simple words escaped from his lips.

"Are you scared, Lucy?"

"Scared because you have nothing that could possibly defeat me?'

"Scared because you share the same fate as your comrades?"

"Sc-" he abruptly stopped as Lucy lifted her trembling hands to caress the sides of his face.

The demon looked at her as if she were insane but remained still.

"Scared because that Natsu of yours is nowhere to be found?"

Lucy bowed her head so her bangs shaded her face, jabbed a finger to his chest, and screamed,"He's right here!"

Before the demon could protest she slammed her lips against his own in a searing hot kiss.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, and short sobs escaped her mouth.

As she pulled away she watched his eyes transform back into the soft, onyx ones she had fallen in love with.

Natsu looked at her, confused.

"Lucy! What happened?"

As she began to speak, she collapsed into his arms.

She brushed his cheek,"Everything's alright Natsu. You're going to be just fine."

"Lu-cy?"

He held her tightly in his arms, rocking her back and forth as the life slowly drained from her body.

"Natsu, promise me something?"

He simply nodded, too shocked for words.

"You must never blame yourself for this, please."

As tears began to dribble down his flushed cheeks he rapidly nodded his head.

"Oh, one more thing."

He stared her directly in the eyes.

"Natsu, I really do love you."

And with that he placed one last, loving kiss on her cracked lips before she fell limp in his arms.

"Me too Luce, me too."
