Mr. Rosenthal knew when he saw that the director was calling his cell phone that something was up. He just hadn't expected it to be so big.
His only son had been the victim of a hit and run and was now in a coma. His baby. He was only eleven.Mr. Rosenthal was thankful for the fact that he was at his home office when he received the call and that Celia and Alli were out at the store. It gave him a chance to get it all out before he'd have to put on a brave face and break the news to them.

*Two hours later*On most days, Celia Rosenthal could be found hanging out with her friends or taking a stroll through Central Park. On this particular day, she could be found in her room, curled in a ball on her and hugging a pillow, sobbing.
Her father had informed Celia and her mother of what had transpired in Detroit and how Anthony, the little bundle of joy that she had taken to from the moment he was brought home from the hospital, was in a coma.
Her father tried to sugar coat it, tried to make it sound hopeful, as though there was a chance of him getting better, but Celia knew better. She knew that most people who went into a coma never woke up and so she knew she'd never see her little brother's smiling face ever again. And just the thought of that crushed her.
