The Sharpest Smiles

There once was a kid with yellow jagged teeth.

He ate melon slices, and all sorts of sweets.

Nose in a book, a fantasy's mind,

seeing the world, and wanting to hide.

Rumors and rumors screaming in both ears.

Laughs, taunts, and name calling "queers."

Snaggle tooth, yellow belly, small, and fat.

These are the things, that made him go mad.

Walking home from school, sad and alone,

some boys thought it would be fun to start to throw stones.

bruised from battles, the boy grew scared.

Tried to tell mother, but didn't seem to be there.

Locking the door behind him, wanting to see,

if there was really a light, and broken down dreams.

Grabbing a hammer, and a bottle of pills,

the 10 year-old looked in the mirror standing still.

He guzzled down pills, to numb the pain.

Took the hammer, teeth fell like rain.

Removing every tooth, the boy smiled,

half blood, half gums, 28 teeth all in a pile.

Flashes of pain, the fantasy's mind grew stiff.

Mother came into a blood bath, and felt in grief,

took out her own, to wear my brother's teeth.

Her sharkish smile over time wore down,

my life, a child, grew more into a frown.
