I wish I were normal, but every supernatural teenager wishes that. Well, I am cheesy that way, and I wish I had a little bit of normal in me. My mom and dad say to embrace my difference, but not my wolf. Of course not my wolf. We always have to stay hidden, but so does every other supernatural creature on Earth.
My mom and dad just don't understand what is like to be a born wolf. They were both scratched, my dad actually scratched my mom, but that isn't the point. They just don't get it. I can hear people talking about me behind my back, smell when someone farts in class, and run the mile at school in two minutes. I just can't show it, so I have to hold it inside me trapped in a rusty cage that could break at any time, and release my beast. I am what I like to call the bomb with the pin 3/4 of the way out, ready to blow. I just wish I had someone to talk to that wasn't some idiot that I grew up with. That won't happen unless the pack invites someone in or I scratch a hot guy or a new friend. Maybe, I could do the Teen Wolf thing and have the guy go looking for a dead body. Then, bite him, but that would be stupid.
My mother, Nora Levison, was scratched by my father, Josh Levison, on accident on a full moon right before he changed. Short after, my mother's child that she was pregnant with, my father's child, had died during that full moon. My father was scratched, too. The wolf who scratched him was never spotted after his attack. That was many years ago. Now, my parents are both doctors at the city hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. They know how to control there changes, and taught my brother, Aiden, and I how to control it, too. My little sister, Jamie hasn't really gotten the control thing down yet. But, we are born wolves. My parents just don't know what it is like to have no hope at a normal life.
You see, there are three main species on this planet: werewolf, vampire, and human. Humans can become the other two, but can only turn back to human through the werewolf specie. Vampires are vampires for the rest of their lives. But, werewolves, only bitten or scratched wolves can become human again. The born wolves will always be wolves. Forever. Never changing. Kind of like a vampire, although, the stereotypical vampire doesn't age. That isn't true. Vampires just don't age as fast as humans or wolves. If you were a twenty year old vampire, you would stay twenty, or twenty looking, for twenty more years. Unlike humans or wolves who age pretty much like each other.
"Sally! The bus will be here soon," my mother called out to me as I brushed my long blonde hair. Today was one of those days where you don't want to go to school at all. The topical Monday for a fifteen year old. Only, I was your typical teen, minus the fact I do turn into a wolf every full moon and new moon. I went to school, participated in a school club, went to parties, and even had a boyfriend, Ethan Nytac. He was super hot, was a football player, and liked comic books like me. He was also super kind.
"Good morning everyone," I said in my sarcastic voice. The kitchen was the like any other kitchen on the planet, it had an oven, a fridge, etc. All the appliances were normal, and the marble counter was old and had chips in it. It was homey. My father liked that, he was cliché that way.
"Hello, Sally." My whole family said this at once as there usual response. Jamie was young, only in the seventh grade, Aiden was a senior, and I was a sophomore. All about two to three years apart. I was okay with that because it kept things easy on my parents.
My parents named me after their friend who was a ghost, but then passed on to the other world. Aiden was named after their other friend who was first a vampire (human bat), then a human, then died and became a ghost, and then went to the other world. I guess he was a good guy. I guess Sally was a good person, too. Jamie was just a name my parents liked, nothing special.
"What's for breakfast?"
"It is make-it-yourself day for food," Aiden said. When ever he talked to me, it always felt like he was trying to get rid of me. Maybe, I was the person who was nothing special. "We've got to go now if we are going to be to class on time for once."
"Then, I will take my make-it-yourself breakfast to go." Aiden and I walked, or really ran, to school like we always do and still didn't make to first period on time. That was the usual, but not today. There was something different about the atmosphere of school today. It was dense, but that was just the wolf talking for me.
In Mr. Sweany's class was history. He was used to me being late, and he let it slide because he was like me. I always thought that was strange having a teacher who I have known since I was little, and I have also seen the guy's junk. "Class, we have a new student. This is Liam Enum. I think you all would at least make him feel welcome on his first day."
Liam was cute. Very cute. His hair was a dirty blonde that was spiked up in the front. His eyes were ice blue, and his skin was baby smooth. Amazing. "Why don't you sit at the desk next Ms. Levison right over there," Mr. Sweany told Liam and pointed to the empty desk next to me.
That was the best class of my life. Liam and I talked to each other the whole time, and Mr. Sweany didn't care. At least I was being nice to the guy. I learned that Liam was from a small town in Northern California. He was nice. He made feel normal for once, and I usually don't believe in this kind of stuff, but it felt like that super cheesy love at first sight. Stupid.
As we were walking out of class, I saw this wired color in his deep yet light blues eyes, a fleck of black. Not enough for him to be vampire, but not so little that he was human. Just enough for me to feel worried because when he looked into my eyes, he saw something, too. I just don't know what.
