"Well?" Troy's mother—or at least who I assumed was his mother—demanded with her hands on her hips. "Aren't you going to introduce us?"
I immediately jumped out of my seat and bowed. I grimaced when I looked down at myself. My appearance was embarrassing; my face was oily, my hair was frizzy and unbrushed, and I was still wearing the same robe I'd been sleeping in.
But how was I supposed to know his parents were going to make an appearance? It was shocking to think he had parents—both of whom were alive no less.
Troy barely greeted them.
"Why are you here?"
"Not even a 'hello Mom', 'hello Dad'?" His mother continued to grill him. Troy was a terrible Alpha and a terrible mate, figured he'd also be a terrible son.
"Hello—"
"Hello," his mom interrupted before he could say anything else, "How have you been for the past year, Troy?"
"Good."
"And how is the pack fairing in your leadership?" His father joined in.
"Good." Small talk was killing him I could tell.
"Did you miss us?" She pursed her lips.
"What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming back for two more months."
"Answer your mother." Troy's father commanded.
I studied his parents while they were busy disciplining their son. His father was tall with very broad shoulders and his dirty blond hair streaked with white. His mother was as tall as her mate and thin. Troy got his amber eyes from his mother.
There was an obvious resemblance to Troy in both of his parents but did they share his cruel personality?
"Yes." Troy said through gritted teeth. "What are you doing here? Was your vacation too boring for you?"
"Dallas told us the news and we came to see if it were true." Troy's father explained.
News? What was he talking about? Unless. . .
Troy's amber eyes went straight to me.
So did both of his parents.
"This is the girl?" He asked his son and my cheeks burned. I wanted nothing more than to scream that I hated him with every inch of my being.
