The first set of customers came in right on the dot, 9 o'clock. This couple was like this, they came in for a morning egg and some coffee and left. Nobody really knew who they were. Infact they lived two miles out of town according to one of my untrustworthy friends who would stock people if you had fifty bucks laying around. Occasionally the man would stop in during the late night hour and have a drink or two but my knowledge didn't go any further than that. I had just pulled the last of the knifes out of the target boards when rush hour started. Ten people already were cramming into the doorway. I started to polish the knifes and Veronica started to cook some omelets. She asked me to get some whiskey poured. I got out the glasses and thought, a drink at ten in the morning somebody must really be having a bad day with the misses.

At lunch time we had our usual crowed. I put some sandwiches on the griddle and asked Veronica to watch them while I went to the back and started to smoking some sausages. Ron came over and I left to go to to the back of the kitchen where we had a grill. I had to lite it up with a match today then I threw a couple sausages on the grill. When they were done I took them I gave them to Veronica. By 4 o'clock no one was in the bar so we closed up shop. Veronica offered to do the dishes and I left.

I went outside to go see Pedro. He's owed me money for six weeks now and I wanted it back. Pedro was a small boy but very strong. He could give a mean gut puck when he wanted. His family moved from from Northern Mexico to Thames Town a few years back and he's been kind of a trouble maker ever since. Lately he been trying to give up smoking so his mood can change from happy to gloomy in a second. I found him at the corner drug store buying some chewing gum. I approached him and he flinched like I was about to hit him. He knew what I wanted and started talking really fast " Money? You want your money? I don't have it right now. I'll get it to you by tomorrow just don't hurt me." he said in a high voice.

Unfortunately I was tall, tough, and looked very very stern. I also was occasionally known for punching people. I pulled Pedro off the floor and he took his chewing gum and ran. I knew he was scared of me because two years back we both did boxing and I was beating him so badly I accidently knocked him unconscious for six hours. After that we became friends but he still had the fear that I might beat him sometime. I promised myself I would never hurt someone like that again. That rule lasted about two months when I saw Zeek, the biggest brute in all of Thames Town High, bulling on some freshman to give him some lunch money. Zeek was like a gorrilla compared to most of the people in the school. He wore a black cut off T-shirt, a leather vest, blue jeans, military boots, he bought off ebay, and had died his mohawk jet black. I was about the only one who could size up to him and look him straight in the eye.

I lost my temper the moment I saw that. I walked toward him with hatred on my face. I heard someone whisper get start digging the grave and he and his buddy laugh. Everybody in the cafeteria formed a semicircle around us and the wall. I tapped on Zeek's shoulder and and punched him across the face. We were staring right at each other with the kid pushed slumped against the wall. We broke out into a fist fight right there. The teachers had to come and break us up. We were both suspended for the day and had a note sent to our parents. Jack didn't care. To him I was just a person there to please him like a trained monkey from the zoo. Veronica on the other hand went a little crazy. The next day I got a thank you from the kid Zeek was bullying and a detention the rest of the week.

Everyone was afraid of me now, not that they weren't before. I lived on the dark side of town. This is where every building is in the verge of collapse, murder happens, and gangs hang out. I bought a hunters knife when I moved here, just in case. And no I have not killed anyone with it. Okay, well maybe I have cut a couple people and thrown them out of the bar. Possibly Jack as well. Never mind that. There is also the light side. I think a group of Star Wars obsessed nerd came up with the names and it stuck. Anyway, this is where ever little rich kid, pretty boy and prissy girl lives. I have a few friends who live over there but they're so annoying. You can hear them talk politics like there seventy year old men with no life left. Then there's the Twilight zone also know as dusk. Whatever little nerdy, vampire obsessed, drama queen got that name to stick, I would personally like to dump frying grease all over her. The Star Wars part is fine by me, personally I love Star Wars. When that new movie is come out I'll be the first one in line with a ticket and popcorn.

The twilight zone it the middle of town dividing the dark side and the light side. This is where the schools are, city hall, the mayor's house, and just about every public facility you could imagine. And then we have a two mile long beach. One of my best friend is the biggest beach bum there is in the entire town. Only one problem. There is no law. According to Thames Town history, there has not been a police here since the mid 1980's, about 30 years. I'm guessing you're wondering how the heck this town has not fallen apart. Well I don't know. Rumors are that the mayor is drunk a hundred percent of the time he doesn't care what happens. That may be why there is only two percent sales tax.

Buy the time I got back it was 8 o'clock. I went down the cellar stairs and grabbed a can of beer. Yes, you heard me right. I have a drinking problem. I'm not proud of it but I am what I am. It started when I moved here. I was in a deep deep depression and I didn't know what to do. I just grabbed a bottle of wine, found an opener and started to drink. Of course Veronica doesn't know about this otherwise she would kill me. I fished the can, crushed with my fist then threw it across the cellar, then I passed out.
