I woke up from my alarm. It was graduation day! I hopped out of bed and went to shower. Today was a big day and I was ready to slay it.
After I got out of the shower, I sat in my towel drying and straightening my hair. I started doing my makeup right after. I did a sharp eyeliner wing and put on some dark red lipstick. I had to admit, I looked fierce. I got up and put on matching black lingerie then my black dress and heels.
"Steph, wake up yo- Holy fuck, hotness" Alex said as she saw me.
I laughed and spun around, "What do you think?"
"You look beautiful. I'd turn lesbian for you" She joked.
"Easy there tiger!" I laughed hard.
She laughed too and sighed, "I need to get gussied up. Come and keep me company?"
"Sure" I smiled.
I followed her into her room then sat down on her bed behind her vanity. She sat down and began doing her makeup.
"So are you excited?" She asked.
"Sort of but I'm kind of bummed out" I answered truthfully.
"Why?"
"Because, I have nobody rooting for me but myself there"
"You have me and sometimes it's better to just root for yourself then have somebody do it for you"
I shrugged my shoulders, "If you say so"
"I do say so. Just cheer up. You never know what'll happen"
"I guess" I breathed out, "I'm going to go eat something"
I got up and walked to the kitchen. I looked around and grabbed a muffin then reached in the refrigerator, getting out orange juice. I poured a glass then sat down at the table. I ate it all then drunk my juice down.
"Alright, let's get going!" Alex yelled as I heard her heels click the floors.
I got up and put my cup in the dishwasher. We went outside and got into her car. She stepped on the gas and drove to where our graduation was being held at.
"Are as nervous as me?" I asked.
"Probably. I'm so nervous but this is amazing!" She smiled, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Yeah it is. Man, I can't believe we did it"
"I know right. It's crazy to think that we are actually graduating college. Yeah, we already did this before for high school but college? That's amazing. Nobody ever sticks through it"
I smiled at her, "Stop, you're going to make me cry. And I don't want to cry with twenty five dollar mascara and eyeliner"
She laughed. "Sorry sorry. I'll be quiet"
I laughed and stared out the window as we drove in the parking lot. There were so many cars, it was crazy. We got out of the car and went inside. I saw some classmates and a ton of parents. The feeling of emptiness came over me since nobody was here for me in the crowd.
"Hey look, there's Brandon!" Alex said, grabbing my arm.
We went in the back room where all the students were and got to Brandon. Alex hugged him and he greeted me.
"You guys look beautiful" Brandon said.
"Thanks" We both said in sync.
"Oh by the way, Steph, Sam wants to talk to you" Brandon hit my arm.
"Where is he?" I questioned.
He pointed at some area in the back. I walked through the crowd of bodies and got to where Sam was, he was talking to our friend Emily. I haven't seen Sam since the night he tried to kiss me. Sam met with my eyes, he shooed the girl away.
"Hey, you wanted to talk to me?" I said, sounding like a question.
"Yeah" he ran his fingers through his hair, "I wanted to apologize for disrespecting you the other night"
"Oh, it's okay" I smiled softly.
"No it isn't, I should've stopped when you said no. I honestly feel bad for going to kiss you when you told me no"
"Sam" I laughed, "It's fine. Honest!"
He breathed out, "Oh okay. So uh, who was that guy?"
I bit my lip, "Oh. Uh, He's a friend of mine"
He raised one eyebrow, "Really? He seemed like more"
"Oh no. He's just a friend" I laughed.
One professor came in and got us in alphabetical order so when they called our names, it'll be all good. We walked out and stood in front of our chairs. We stood the whole time for a pledge. After, we sat down.
The whole thing went by fast. The last part was here, diploma time. They called my name and I walked across the stage, shook hands with the dean and then went to go sit back down. After we threw our caps in the air as everybody cheered. I was so proud of myself.
They let us go to our family and friends. I followed Alex to go see Brandon.
"Stephanie!" I heard a guys voice.
I turned and saw my biological father. I smiled hard and ran to him. I hugged him tightly and moved away from him.
"Dad, how'd you get here?" I questioned.
"Your mom called me and told me she couldn't make it so I took matter into my own hands and here I am" He laughed.
"Thank you so much. This means so much!" I thanked him.
"You look so beautiful. My little baby is all grown up" He smiled.
"Dad" I whined, "You're going to make me cry"
"Stephanie, you didn't amazing" I heard somebody behind me again.
I turned to see Chris all dressed up in a suit. I smiled and hugged him tightly.
"How'd you know I was graduating?" I asked surprised.
"Surprise!" Alex yelled, coming from behind Chris.
"Holy shit! Thank you!" I hugged her.
I looked back at my father, who was glaring at Chris. I had to introduce them or else my father would think bad.
"Dad, this is Chris. Chris, this is my father" I introduced them.
"Nice to meet you, sir" Chris said, shaking his hand.
"Strong hand grip, I like it." My dad said, letting go of his hand.
"You too" Chris laughed.
"Picture?" My father asked.
I sighed, "Sure"
I moved away and posed for the picture.
"I need some with your boyfriend or whatever" My dad said.
I laughed. Chris came over to me and put his hand to my lower back, nearly touching my butt. The flash hit us and I blinked it off.
The rest of the party was pretty fun. The loneliness faded away quickly thanks to Alex. This was the beginning of something wonderful. If there's a future, I wanted it now.
