"Mandy!" Jessica shouted from downstairs, "Oh my god. Like, oh my god! Can you believe this??? My mom is gonna be so happy!"

"What's up Jess?" Amanda stumbled as she came down the long flight of stairs. "I'd expected you would've known, you know...being my best friend and all?" Amanda rolled her eyes. This was the fifth time this week she referred to Amanda being her "best friend". Not that there was anything wrong with that, but Amanda couldn't spare any time for any of those things. She had her own stuff to hide, so what was the point of having one anyways? Plus, Jessica, even though she was really nice, was a bit too clingy and Amanda enjoyed her free space.

"I'm waiting...you gonna tell me or not?" she asked. "Okay, don't freak out...but I got a B on my report card!!!" Jessica exclaimed. "Wow that's great Jess! The hard work really paid off, didn't it?" Amanda said. "Now I know I'm not like someone here who gets straight A's in all her subjects, but this time...I've really outdone myself," she squealed.

Jessica wasn't really one for academics, she was more interested in the latest trends and gossip. Her average grade being a 75% at the best, getting a B was a miracle for her. Of course, Amanda wasn't like that. She always seemed to have a bubble of tension around her if it weren't for anything else, but always managed to do good at school and never got into any controversies.

"I'm gonna go show my mom!" Jessica said as she waved the report card envelope and slammed the front door.

Amanda heaved a sigh of relief. "That was a close one" Amanda said as she walked back into her room. You might be thinking, sure it's the room of a sixteen year old girl. It's obviously going to be filled with pretty girly stuff; but no, not at all- Amanda Summers was no normal teenage girl in Seattle. "Don't give up hope Amanda, you'll find him somehow..." she said to herself as she pressed the button near her bed to change back her room from its tech equipped division.
