It was starting to get tedious at this point in time, Joe and I just driving to places, trying to snag any tiny piece of information that we could get our hands on. This time it was 23 Charlton Avenue, the home of a very scruffy office building, not very large at all, looked like it was going to be easy pickings. Joe got out of the car and we made our way to the main door. I went for the handle. It was unlocked.

'What the fuck? It's like they are expecting us or something.' I said with a bit of disturbance in my voice.

'You worry too much man, there is no one here it's empty.' Replied Joe, confident as ever.

We made our way inside, it was dark and gloomy, as if a large black veil had been strewn over the room. As I took a few more steps in, I realised that it was damp too.

'This really don't feel right Joe, I said. Let's find what we are looking for and then get the fuck out of here.' I said, quite anxious to get this done.

'Seriously man, stop worrying about nothing. But if it bothers you that much we will make this as quick and painless as
possible you pussy.'

I gave him his own look after that but he just smirked at me. I wanted this to be over ASAP. There were 5 offices.

'I'll take 2, you take 2, how does that sound, Carzolo?'

I nodded at him and then we were at work. I took the first room. Door already open. This wasn't right, I knew it. I searched all around, in the desks and everything. I yanked all the drawers out. Nothing. I went on to the second, door was, as per usual, unlocked. I walked in emptied all the drawers, and once again, jack shit. As I was walking out though, I caught sight of something on top of the door. I picked it up, it was a key. It was pretty useless in a place where all the doors were unlocked, but I pocketed it anyway and moved back out into the creaky, cramped corridor, where I was met by an ecstatic Joe.

'Look what I found Antonio! It's the son of a bitch's files! It gives us everything, including the location of his next meeting. It's at his safehouse in the countryside. I know where it is because I grew up there. Great place until the druggies came and took over. Well anyway, what did you find on your amazing journey through dark and damp work places?'

I was frozen for a second. He found all this and I only found a key. There was no point in lying, so I just told him.

'A key, but that's about it.' I replied.

Joe did his strange little chuckle.

'A key? It's pretty useless with all of these unlocked doors.' He said.

' That's what I thought.' I replied.

We advanced to the final office. It was locked.

'Wow, the only locked door in the place. Try the key on the door.' Suggested Joe.

'Okay, here goes nothing...' I replied

The key turned and the door swung open. We closed the door behind us while in there in order to conceal ourselves a bit, just in case anyone was in the building. But, when the door was open, I saw the outline of something in the room, it looked like the outline of a person. So I switched on the light, and suddenly the darkness was gone.

Excuse me for a second officers, I must stop the story for a minute just to tell you that what we saw in that room haunts me to this very day. Just a warning.

As the light went on I was blinded for a second, and then in an instant I saw the he most disturbing thing I have ever seen in my entire life. Three men, quite dead. Butchered. With their feet severed and squashed down their throats. Their eyes gouged out and and their throats slit. At that moment, I fell to the ground.

'What.....the........fuck?!?!' I gasped, horrified.

Joe didn't say anything at first, he just helped me to my feet and just stood there, with terror on his face. He swung the door wide open to let in some air and then he took out his radio.

'We are gonna need some backup.'
