Help arrived about 10 minutes later. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. I don't care who you are, no one deserves to die like that.
'Hey come look at this Antonio.' Said Joe
'What is it?' I replied as I slowly made my way towards the corpses, still traumatised.
'Look at the tattoo on the back of their necks. It's a 'M'. That's the sign of Mendilevi's crew. He had his own men killed.'
'But why?' I replied, perplexed and confused about the whole situation.
'Probably because they wanted out. You hear it all the time. Mendilevi's operation involves some seriously fucked up shit at times. Like what we witnessed here today. It just turned out that Martin wasn't so keen on fulfilling their wishes of leaving...'
'Go back to your wife, son, go back to your kids and leave this case alone.'
Those words rang through my brain again and again and I was seriously starting to consider what Sanchez said. However I managed to get myself together.'So what's the plan boss?' I asked.
'The plan is simple. We know where this evil bastard lives. So I suggest we go find the motherfucker and put him in the ground once and for all.' Replied Joe with a tint of anger mixed with confidence in his voice.
'Well I suppose we should get going then,' I suggested 'It's a long drive to his countryside mansion.'
'Agreed, let's get this done as soon as possible.'
So we got into the car and began the drive up to Martin Mendilevi's countryside mansion which was located all the way over in Connecticut.
There was mainly silence for hours, probably had something to do with the horrors we had just witnessed. However, the silence was eventually broken by Joe, who wanted to make our situation absolutely clear.'Antonio, you I hope you realise this could be our last shot to find Mendilevi, so we have gotta make I count.'
'I understand Joe, Jesus Christ this is not my first rodeo. I don't need you patronising me after what we have just seen and no doubt what we are about to go through.'
He gave me those eyes again and his face turned slightly red.
'I ain't patronising you, Carzolo, so stop trying to create dissension when there isn't any need. Now I understand that things have been tough over the last couple weeks with you having to leave your wife and children, but so have I. You don't think that I want to get back to them too? Well I do. We both do. And the quicker we get this done the quicker we can do just that.'
I went quiet again. This time it stayed that way until we pulled up at the bottom of the hill. At the top was the one of the many mansions that belonged to Martin Mendilevi. Obviously we couldn't get too close or we would be spotted. We had arrived right on time just as planned. The file we picked up at the offices detailed a meeting at this very mansion. That meeting started at 3pm, which was in 30 minutes.
'Now, we wait.'
