3)

There was nothing to do and I needed to get home. I walked to the door and started to knock until I realized the door was open. I pushed it and stepped in.

I couldn't see anything except darkness and I took a few cautious steps forward. Fear suddenly gripped my heart. I got down and the floor and decided to crawl instead.

I kept crawling and each step brought me closer to fear itself. My breath kissed the air in front of me.

Suddenly I bumped into this dark furnished wall and squeaked. I stood and felt alongside it until I felt something wooden poking from the wall. I twisted it and a door popped open. It was dark beyond it too. I stepped in and left the door open in case I need to go back.

I walked a few more steps until I felt wind slam behind me. The door slammed closed. Panic gripped my heart and I frantically turned around to find the door again. I felt every inch of that three by six foot wall and I couldn't find a door knob. This was my cue to hyperventilate.

"What are you?" a man's voice came from behind me.

I quickly stood up straight and tall and turned around. "Alias Array."

"You're a Hunter." He stated with no hesitation.

"You're a Shadow." I fired back.

"Yet I am not ashamed by my blood as you are." He shot back.

I blushed hard. I did wish to be other than a Hunter at times. I would like to feel something other than bloodlust. I would like to feel something other than to kill but I couldn't. I am who I am. I couldn't change that.

"Name?" I changed the subject. I could feel the man smirk. I couldn't see him yet I knew.

"Kris Worth." He spoke and I could feel the blood on him. His veins rushed and I clenched my teeth. My first priority was to leave, not kill.

"I bet you're hungry. I bet you want to kill me. I bet you hate yourself Array." He growled at me and I could feel my fangs grow. My eyes fazed and all I could see was blood. I tried so hard to fight back. The urge climbed higher and I dug my nails into my hands.

"Don't worry. You aren't the only one looking for my blood. Death has been looking for me for years." He laughed a little and told me to follow him. So I did.

We entered a room lit by only one burning candle, and for some reason, I knew this candle had been burning for years. It gave off a burning bark smoky smell.

"Why are you here?" Kris looked at me as he opened a wine bottle that seemingly appeared out of thin air.

I didn't get his question. "What do you mean."

"I mean why are you here? What's your purpose?" The pouring of wine filled the room.

"I don't have one?"

"Everyone on Wise Road has a purpose." He placed another glass that appeared on the counter that I could see even though there is a candle in the room.

"What's your's?" I fidgeted from one foot to the other.

"Five hundred years ago, I fell into Wise Road with nothing but $3.45 cents in my pocket. I was a rich bastard," he chuckled. "Kira, my sister, murdered my child and ran for the hills. Lovely lady really. Well I went looking for her. Here I am."
