Today was the day of the ball that my father had ordered to be thrown. He was ready for me to pick out a wife, but I did not want any of the princesses he threw at me. They were all so shallow. I was sulking as my servants dressed me in the fancy stuffy clothes my father had picked out. I headed downstairs to where the ball was already in full force. I was forced to dance with many of the wealthy townspeople and the foreign nobility that had been invited. But none of it felt right.

It wasn't until I had been dancing for over an hour that she walked in. She was beautiful. Her blue dress sparkled in the candlelight. It reminded me of the stars in the sky right as they came out, and her eyes looked like a blue sky on a beautiful day. Her hair was blonde, but yet it was not. It was more like a golden color, like a golden thread had made up her beautiful hair. Her shoe were a slivery clear, such a perfect fit, and they looked so fragile, like a doll. She looked like a perfect doll. The crowd gasped as they saw her beauty, but I don't think anyone saw her the same way I did, perfect.

I approached her and asked her to dance. Her cheeks turned bright red like an apple as she said yes and put her hand into mine. I led her to the dance floor and we started to dance. She was so perfect. We danced all night, but suddenly she said that she had to leave. She ran away as I ran after her. I couldn't catch her but I got a part of her, her fragile shoe. I got a brilliant idea, I would find the girl in the kingdom whose foot fit this shoe.

My father tried to stop me, but I hunted throughout the kingdom. Alongside my footman and a soldier, I left every morning at dawn and came back every night at dusk. Within a week we had been to every house but one. At the past houses we had visited, every young maiden and every old maid claimed to be my mystery girl, but none of their feet perfectly fit the glass slipper. We were all losing hope, but I had enough hope to continue on to this last lonely house. We went into this house and were told that their was only two girls and their mother. The mother pushed these two girls towards us and they tried on the glass slipper. Both sisters went as far to cut off part of their feet, but their own blood betrayed them and we caught their dirty tricks. The mother said with such despair that their was no one else in the house. So we got ready to leave but then we heard a sound. The sound was a woman's voice singing. My lost beauty was singing the most beautiful song I had ever heard. Her voice was so angelic. We went up and the mother tried to stop us. We pushed past her up to the attic. We broke into the attic and there she was. She looked so shocked, but so relieved at the same time. I slowly bent down and gently put the slipper onto her small beautiful foot. It fit perfectly. It must be her, my lost love. I got down on one knee, taking out the ring I had kept in my pocket just in case of this moment. She said yes before I could even get the question out. She hugged me and gave me a lovely gentle kiss. It was all perfect.

Our marriage happened six months later. It was such a sight to see. She looked so beautiful.
