"Now what kind of neighbor would I be if I let that happen?" he chuckled while folding up my knife. "Besides, you have me." He smiled and added, "I'm better than no one, right?"
I looked up at him. "I barely know you. Why were you even coming in my window anyway?"
"Well, you didn't answer my call, and you usually do. I called to see if you wanted to hang out with me and some of my friends and go see a movie. So I decided to come ask in person, and when I was about to knock on the door I noticed your window was open, so I looked in...and there you were." He laughed a little. "I swear I'm not a stalker."
"I...I believe you."
He slightly nodded his head and closed my window. Looking around my room, he commented on my collage of pictures. Pointing at one in particular, he said, "Is that your boyfriend?"
I stood up, dried my tears, walked over by him and looked at the picture.
"Oh...no. That's my brother. Or, at least...was my brother," I said while I started to tear up again.
"Oh...well whatever happened, I'm sorry." Jake sighed. "Shit, I made you cry again, didn't I?"
"No. I did." I ran into his arms and started crying even more. "He was the only one that understood me," I sobbed.
"Shhhhhhhhh. Stop crying." He lifted up my head. "There's no need for it. I'm here."
"I'm so sorry, it's just I've been through all of this crap, and my life sucks, an-" I started to ramble before he stopped me.
