"Sarah Collins" I said while slamming my detention slip on the teacher's desk in frustration."Nice to see you again Ms.Collins."
"Yeah, yeah. Just here to do my time and get out." I said to the teacher who I could never remember the name of.
I dropped my book bag to the floor and sunk into my chair, this was going to be a long two hours. I laid my head down on the desk to try to maybe get a little bit of sleep in if I was going to be the only one in detention for two hours of my life. But the instant I laid my head on the desk...
"No sleeping in detention Ms.Collins!!" snapped the teacher.
Ughhhh, why couldnt she just give me a break?!
"You know that you are just a ray of sunshine, Mrs.....uhhhh..." I stopped to think.
"Its Mrs.Little, and that's another day of detention for you Mrs.Smart Mouth" she snapped.
What could another day of detention do? This place was becoming my second home anyways.
"Okay, okay, sorry, Mrs. Little, Ill for sure remember that from now on. Before I shut up for the rest of the two pleasant hours we have ahead of us, may I ask if I'm the only one who is on the role for detention today?" I questioned curiously with the sweetest voice I could muster.
"No, a student by the name of -"
She was interrupted with the sound of the door opening, I turned my attention from Mrs.Little's desk toward the classroom door, and my heart dropped.
"Ah, yes, Holden Brooks, so nice of you to join us." Mrs. Little said with an obvious blush starting to form on her cheeks as he walked towards her desk.
Shit!
I could feel my body start to shake as the memories of him and the words his mother exchanged. My eyes started to burn with the thought of his mother not liking me solely based on the color of my skin. I couldn't do this. Not today, not ever.
"Im sorry Mrs. Little but Ive got to go." I mumbled as I grabbed my book bag and ran out of the room.
I kept running down the hallway with tears blurring my vision, but I didn't care anymore, I just had to get out of there.
But before I could stop myself I ran straight into Caleb, knocking him and myself over.
"Im..Im so sorry c-caleb" I stuttered while picking myself up off the floor.
"Watch were youre going, nigger." Said Caleb as his face turned red from anger.
I was completely and utterly speechless. Ive always known that Caleb hated me and was a jackass, but I never thought it was because he was racist. It was all just suddenly too much, I put my back against the hallway wall, and slid down and let the tears flow.
"What the hell did you just say to her?!" a familiar voice exclaimed with anger laced into their words. I looked up to find Holden facing Caleb.
What?...How? Wait, did Holden run after me?
"Nothing that you should be worried about Brooks, worry about your own kind, which she is definitely not." Not a second after those words escaped Caleb's mouth; Holden raised his fist and punched him right in the face, knocking him to the floor.
"Stay away from Sarah you little piece of shit, Last time I checked, its 2015, so lose your dumb ass racist views." Said Holden.
Still completely in utter shock from the events that just unfolded in front of me, I watched as Caleb picked himself up, mumbled something under his breath, and walked away.
I stayed seated against the wall and watched Holden as he walked towards, taking a seat right next to me.
I wiped the tears from my face before I began.
"You didn't have to do that, you know" I said while trying my best not to look at him.
"I know, but he deserved it, besides, wasn't the first time I punched that jerk."
"Well, thank you."
And with that, I stood up, grabbed my book bag, and walked away.
"Wait! Sarah!"
I didn't stop walking, but Holden caught up to me.
"Sarah, please, just talk to me." He said while grabbing my shoulders. I did my best to look anywhere but his eyes, because I know once I did, I would be a goner.
Don't do it Sarah, don't you dare look into those beautiful brown eyes, and messy brown hair, and toned muscles...and....
Dang it!! I have to snap out of it.
I just have to try and ignore the fact that his very touch sends shivers up my spine.
"Why didn't you text me... I was a mess that whole night, up crying all freaking night thinking about what your mom was saying, thinking that maybe she was right, maybe I'm not right for you. But you know what else I was thinking about Holden? About how much I like you, because I can't get you out of my freaking head and its literally driving me insane and-"
I was interrupted by Holden's lips crashing down onto mine. Totally forgetting what I was even going to say, I got lost in the moment as his lips moved with mine. I didn't realize how much I missed him till now, it might have not been long since the incident happened, but to me it felt like a life time.
I rapped my arms around Holden's neck as he pulled me closer by clinging to my waste. The kiss was passionate, filled with apologies, and lost time. I giggled like always as Holden softly bit my lip, then slowly kissing my jawline to my neck with the softest touch. Before it got too far, he pulled away.
"Let me just get this out." He said as I stood there pouting due to the end to our little make out session.
Wasn't my plan to ignore this guy? I guess I set myself up to failure with that one.
"Sarah, Im so sorry that I didn't text you that night, but I had no idea what to say, Ive never been in a situation like this before. You have got to believe me when I say that I was up all night too, thinking about you, and you're wrong. You are right for me, and I couldn't give two fucks about what anyone else thinks. So I want to ask you this...
Sarah Kristine Collins, will you be my girlfriend?"
I didn't know if I would regret this or not, but I guess we will find out.
"Yes!!" I squealed with delight.
I wrapped my hands into his soft dark brown hair, and kissed him with all that I was feeling inside.
Could this get any better?
