October 9th 2015: Kellin's pov:

The sky had already started to turn black by the time I got out of work. I exited the store and instead of walking back up to my apartment, I found myself walking in the opposite direction to a small park near my house.

When I reached the park it looked like a ghost town. There wasn't a person in sight, and a light layer of fog surrounded me, which was unusual for New York. The sole light source was from the surrounding street lights, giving off a yellow glow to the area. There was a small playground in the middle of the grass covered ground. Just looking at it gave me chills. But I was a grown man, it was nothing I couldn't handle. As I sat down on one of the swings, the short, but loud squeak that came from it only added to the eeriness. I stayed sitting there for a while, just taking in the atmosphere, thinking about everything, being calm... But I soon decided that I should head back. The city can be dangerous at night.

As I started the walk, something kinda seemed off. The air was still and humid, the always present roar of distant cars was silenced. About a block ahead of me I saw the figure of a man suddenly appear, walking the same forward direction as me. I don't think he saw me... I couldn't see the front of him, but I studied the backside of him.

He was about the same height as me, maybe a bit shorter, and had what seemed to be a shade of brown, shoulder length hair. His clothes consisted of a gray sweater, and black skinny jeans.

Hmm, he has a nice ass...

As he approached the curb of the sidewalk, he stopped, I assumed waiting for a car to pass. I could see the shine of headlights and finally hear the sound of a car, but it was loud, as in the car was going much faster than it should.

"BANG" I was ripped out of my thoughts when I heard the loud noise.

Before I knew what was happening, I saw a white van speed by him, and saw the man before me fall to the ground. The van, never slowing down, sped away leaving us there. It took me a few seconds to process what I had just witnessed, but as soon as I did I started running toward him as fast as I could. Oh my god was the only thing going through my head right now. I was only a short distance away from where he lay, but it felt like it took me forever to get to him. When I did I dropped to the ground beside him and tried to asses the damage.

He has been shot right in the stomach. Blood had begun to pool around him as he lay there motionless. The expression on his face was enough to make me want to start crying. His face was pale, and he looked absolutely terrified... Small tears had escaped his eyes and ran down the side of his face.

His chest was still slightly moving up and down, but he had no reaction to me now being there whatsoever. He must have been in shock. I used my hand to apply pressure to the wound, attempting to stop the bleeding, but it didn't make a difference. I had no idea how else to help. I didn't know a thing about first aid, and if I called an ambulance, it would never get here in time. I checked my phone, 11:27. If I screamed for help, no one would care enough to leave there houses.

He was going to die...

I couldn't do anything to stop this. I pulled his head into my lap and brushed his hair out of his face, resting my hands on either side of his head. In an attempt to soothe him, I massaged small circles into his temples. Finally it seemed to register in his mind that I was sitting there before him. His eyes shot to my face as he studied me for a few seconds.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" I said through tears

He shakily reached one of his hands up and covered mine, which was still on the side of his face. He was so cold. Suddenly he squeezed his eyes shut, his face contorting to a look of pain. He coughed hard and blood spurted out of his mouth running down his cheek. His body shook as he continued cough up more and more blood.

I couldn't suppress it any more, sobs racked through my body as I cried harder than ever before. Why did this have to happen to him, why not someone who deserved it? I mean, for all I know this wasn't just a drive by and someone meant to shoot him, but he seemed like such a nice, fragile person.

Who cares at this point, he was dying in my arms

"Don't be afraid. Its all gonna be okay, I promise"

He opened his eyes and I swear he looked into my soul, before his eyes rolled back into his head, and he stopped moving completely.

"No... No no no, come on, wake up, please" I begged, shaking him. But nothing happened.

That was it.

He was dead, and there was nothing I could do. I watched the life slowly fade from his beautiful, brown eyes... I couldn't look anymore. Closed my eyes tightly trying to calm my brain.

I could have stopped this, there must be something I could have done to help. God if only I had known that van was coming, I would have stopped it. If only I could go back...
