The Glass Slipper

Broke Apart

That morning, the sun shines brightly in Camp Lakebottom. Squirt finally wake up, but with a weird feeling as McGee usually wakes him up in the morning.

Squirt: "McGee? Where are you?"

He looked into his bed, but then suddenly he found him sleeping on Gretchen's bed with Gretchen. He looked at it as a weird situation and finally decided to left the two alone.
About 15 minutes McGee and Gretchen finally awake.

McGee: "Oh, morning Gretch."
Gretchen: "Morning McGee. That was a wonderful night, thank you."
McGee: "No problem, I'll do anything for my girl... I mean friend."

Gretchen only replied with a small laugh. Then, they went to change their clothes. McGee got change first, then Gretchen. They finally went both hand-in-hand to the messhall. On the way to the messhall, Gretchen forgot something as she didn't wear her glass slipper.

Gretchen: "Oh, I forgot something in the cabin, I'll be right back."

McGee looked her in a weird expression. As she reached the cabin, she was surprised that the cabin was a lot mess. The clothes spread anywhere and the pillows are falling from the bed. She looked under her bed and found the glass slippers.

Gretchen: "Oh... gladly I didn't lost you."

Suddenly, a low toned voice coming into the scene. Gretchen with no doubt already know that it's Suzi's.

Suzi: "Well, thank you Gretchen. Finally, you led me to the answer to my question."
Gretchen: "What do you want?"
Suzi: "Nothing, only an answer to my question."

She comes closer to Gretchen and take a look at the glass slipper.

Gretchen: "Hey, give it back!"
Suzi: "Don't worry, I only wanted to see."

She looked very close to the glass slipper. She then started to speak slowly.

Suzi: "Pure glass? Made by magic? No wonder."
Gretchen: "How did you know?"
Suzi: "You don't have to know about it."
Gretchen: "What are you going to do?"
Suzi: "Calm down, calm down."

She then starts to break the slipper, but Gretchen realised her act and stop her even before she start.

Gretchen: "NO, YOU WILL NEVER DO THAT!"
Suzi: "Just try! But I'll never stop."
Gretchen: "You will not break it, that's a gift."
Suzi: "A gift?! From who? My brother? I doubt that."
Gretchen: "No, from a special person."
Suzi: "Special person? The only special person to you is my brother!"

The fight keep going, but as Suzi started to get mad, she kicks Gretchen's belly which makes Gretchen fall to the floor and crying in pain.

Suzi: "THAT'S IT! I HAD ENOUGH WITH THIS."
Gretchen: "No! (with a low voice)"

Suzi threw the slipper to the floor and the slipper broke into pieces. Luckily she only broke one of them and not both. She then left Gretchen cried in pain while holding her belly and looked at the shattered glass slipper. Suzi then slam the door and locked it, without even feeling guilty about her.

About 3 Minutes Ago - Messhall

McGee and Squirt finally finished their breakfast and it's quite weird cause Rosebud's food never tastes quite delicious. Squirt and McGee (especially McGee) got more curious about where's Gretchen.

Squirt: "McGee, where's Gretchen?"
McGee: "I don't know. She said she's only going to take her glass slippers, but now it's quite long. I wonder where is she?"
Squirt: "Maybe something happened to her."
McGee: "Let's go check it out!"

McGee and Squirt ran into the cabin. They were surprised that the cabin was locked.

McGee: "It's locked! Gretchen? Gretch, are you in there?"

Gretchen was relief that finally someone come to save her.

Gretchen: "McGee? Is that you?"
McGee: "Gretchen? You're in there?"
Gretchen: "Yeah."
McGee: "Don't worry, I'll get you out of there."

McGee notices that the door locked from the outside, which is strange because the door never had a key hole and the latch can only be found on the inside. McGee looked around the cabin and finally he found a window near his bed. Luckily the cabin's window had no glass, so he could get in easily. He looked at the cabin which is quite messy. Finally he found Gretchen lying on the floor, crying in pain. McGee approached her and get her up.

McGee: "Gretchen, are you alright?"
Gretchen: "Well... physically I'm alright, but mentally I'm not."
McGee: "What happened?"

McGee lies Gretchen on her bed and gave her some water. She drinks it and finally speak.

Gretchen: "Well, Suzi came here a few moments ago and she gave me a revenge for the beauty contest. *sob* She messed up the whole cabin to looked for my slippers. *sob* That's when I get in. Then I take my slippers from under my bed. She then showed up and wanted the slipper. *sob* She pulled it from me but I refuse to give her. At the end, she punched my belly and destroy one of my slipper *sob*."
McGee: "Where's the other slipper?"
Gretchen: "Here it is."

She showed the slipper that was not destroyed. McGee and Squirt looked at it carefully.

Squirt: "Maybe we could ask to the wizard about what happened?"
McGee: "Good idea, Squirt. But maybe not now. Gretchen still needs some rest. Squirt, why don't you get Gretchen's breakfast here?"
Squirt: "Okay McGee!"

Squirt then run out to the messhall to get Gretchen's breakfast and left McGee and Gretchen in the cabin.

Gretchen: "Thanks for taking care of me, but that'll make you miss the fun for today."
McGee: "That will not as precious as having it with you. We are together, remember? We're the Bottom Dwellers."
Gretchen: "Thanks McGee."

Gretchen then gives McGee a hug and McGee also hugs back while giving a warm quick kiss on Gretchen's cheek which make Gretchen blush.
After having breakfast, Gretchen, McGee and Squirt all played in the cabin instead of going out to make sure that there's nothing wrong with her.
Gretchen felt guilty because if it wasn't because of her, they couldn't get out of the cabin. But McGee assure that none of this was her fault. They finally continue the day like they usually did.
