  Chapter One-Big Egos  

  "Alexander!" Mrs. Jason called out. "Aw Mrs. Jason! Please don't call me Alexander!” he whined "You know I don't like being called Alexander. I go by Jake. Alexander like goes against my country!" This made Mrs.J giggle, but her face became serious again. "Well maybe if you responded when I called out Jake I wouldn't have called you Alexander. Now get your stuff and go sit next to Hannah."  

My head popped up. Who's sitting next to me? Jake? Who's Jake or Alexander or whatever his name is? He plopped down next to me. Oh no! I know this kid! Everybody says he's so full of himself. I had to do something quick! "Mrs.J" I said, "I sit next to Mackenzie she just isn't here right now." "Oh I know sweetie. We're all getting new seats today, but don't you worry, Mackenzie is going to sit in front of you and Jacob will sit next to her."

"YEAH! JAKE YOU AND ME BABY!" Jacob hollered as he gave Jake a high five.  He planted his butt in his chair as he turned to face Jake. Great! Just Great! I get stuck between this arrogant pair and Mackenzie isn't here to save me.

"SO I’m pretty damn sure we're going to win against Jefferson tonight!" Jacob said wearing a cocky smile. "HELL YEAH WE ARE!" Jake practically yelled. "What did you just say Mr.Glenn?"Mrs.J asked. "HECK! Heck yeah!" Jake said "Mhhhm" Mrs.J said. "Ha ha ha ha nice job Jake! Smooth!" Jacob said. Jake's face turned a bright shade of raspberry as he laughed through the embarrassment.

  I was trying to do my work, but I kept getting distracted by Jake & Jacob’s major egos. They kept talking smack until I finally had enough. "What makes you guys think you're going to win!?" I asked. Both of them looked thrown off by my remark. They looked at each other then back at me. Jake studied me for a while until Jacob finally spoke.

"What?" he said. "You heard me." I replied instantly. "Oh. Well you see WE don't think," Jacob stated. "We KNOW!" Jake  finished. "Oh wow." I said rolling my eyes. "Plus we have the best players and we're the best team," Jacob said, "I mean I'm the best shooting guard and I have an average of making 9 out of 10 baskets." "Yeah, but all it takes is that one basket that makes or breaks your chances of winning." I said feeling pretty proud of myself. "Ooh she got you Jacob!" Jake said

"Whatever." Jacob said," Well Jake here is the best damn point guard! He shoots all them three's!" Jake smirked when I said "ooh I didn't know we had a show off over here!" "Yeah do you want my autograph?" he said smirking. "Don't flatter yourself! I don't admire cocky people." I said. "Ha HA! Well its just cause we have something cocky to be about! Am I right?" Jacob said as he high fived Jake. "Wow" I said. Jacob kept saying stuff, but I stopped paying attention.  The door opened. It was Mackenzie here to save me! I waved at her as she smiled showing off her pearly whites.

She walked to Mrs.J as I celebrated "Yes!" I said in a loud whisper. "Oh so you do agree that I'm the best! Seee I told you she'd some around!" Jake said.  "What? No...” I said "Ooh I see you got rejected again Mr.Glenn," Jacob said, "I’m staring to like her"

"Wait," Jake said, "What's your name?"  "I dunno. What is my name?" I said. "Whoa! Dude! you don't know your own name?! That sucks! You should ask your mommy." Jacob said concerned. "Dude. I was just kidding." I said. "Oh! Psh! I knew that!" Jacob said "It starts with an H. Doesn't it?" Jake asked. "Oh! Dude! I got it!" Jacob said, "It's Herbert!" "I'm a girl" I said "Are you sure?" Jake asked I gave him a death glare. "Hey! I was just kidding!" Jake said putting his arms up. "Thank you." I said. "So it'd be Herbeta!" Jacob said.

"Who's Herbeta?" Mackenzie asked. "MACKENZIE!" I said, "Hi."  "Hey." she said as she looked at Jake then at me. "Oh! We got new seats." I said, "Sadly.." "Whatever! You know you love me Herbeta!"Jake said.  "My name isn't Herbeta and ew NEVER!" I said "Hahha Okay! SO where do I sit?" she asked. "Oh you sit by Jacobbbb.." OMG! I JUST REMEMBERED! MACKENZIE'S GOT A CRUSH ON JACOB! AW WEE! OO LA LA! I quickly looked at Mackenzie and did a heart. "Quit it!" she said. I giggled as I watched Jacob move his legs off her chair so she can sit down. She got fidgety and nervous and it caused me to laugh even more, which caused Jake to ask what was so funny. I was about to say nothing when Mackenzie said

"Come with me to sharpen our pencils!" "But she has a lead pencil" Jake pointed out. "Yeah, and you can't sharpen those" Jacob stated, " I should know. I've tried." “OH YEAH! Ha HA! I still can't believe you did that!" Jake said as Mackenzie and I walked away.  "DUDE! HE'S SITTING NEXT TO YOU! AWE! AH! MACKENZIE AND JACOB SITTING IN A TREE! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" I said as we both giggled and danced like little girls. "AH! I know he is! I'm so nervous!" she said. "Well don't be! He's going to love you because you're amazing and beautiful!" I said. "Ha Ha thanks! So are you!" she said. "Nah! Well I'm going to go sit down. Have fun with your pencils!"  "Thanks" she said.

I sat down and heard Jake & Jacob’s conversation. "Yeah! Man Chase gets us to do the craziest things!" Jake said "Oh on the contrary! I think you make us do the craziest things!" Jacob debated. "Remember Spring Break? We had the best time when you got up to play football in a T shaped pool."  "BEEP!" the bell rung. Everybody got their stuff and ran out the door.

"Hey Hannah! Can I borrow your math spiral?" Mackenzie said "Yeah! sure! Here." I replied. "So your name is Hannah! Hannah Montana!" Jacob said. "See I told you it started with an H!" Jake said. "YEAH BUDDY! WE FOUND OUT HER NAME! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD! NO TIME FOR LOSING! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!" Jacob and Jake sang as they left.
