'Rohan wants to meet you.' she said, half smiling.
'Me? why?'
'I told him that you're the star player in junior basket ball team' she untucked her hair and looked at me with one eye while her other vision was blocked by her hair.
Her perfume now half consumed the smell of the briyani, only then I realized she was pushing herself near me beside the table leaning her gorgeous soft body on my arm and stroking her hair back to her neck so that she could see my endeavor using both her intense maskara filled eyes;....and that, briyani was getting over as well.
I pulled back and strewed.
'He might want you to play for his team' she said simply.
'What?' It took a moment for the excitement to kick in. I was going to play in the university represented team, a star player, popular among the colleges, like Rohan. Wow.. People might speak gossips about me. popular. The word echoed in my head.
But then, I thought about the possibilities.
'You mean as a substitute?'
She laughed.
'That's okay. I'll play' I said. Substitute or not, half a loaf is better than no bread.
She laughed again.
I cleared up the table and checked at the billing. I paid for her sandwiches while she called back me.
'He wants you to play not-as-a-substitute' she mimicked my stance.
I once again re-considered the possibilities. The excitement slowly began to kick in. I looked at her, my expression pale.
'But on one condition' she said.
'Oh God! What is that?' I grimaced, standing on my toes.
She laughed at my excitement.
'He wants to test your manoeuvre in the game', she said.
'And so?'
'I don't know. You might have to play against his team', she smirked.
'You don't mean the Sans Cavaliers, do you?'
She laughed.
'I don't have a team', I frowned.
She sighed.
'Yeah, Okay. But my Courtyard team has, well, only three players who can stand those giants, anyway' I sighed.
'That's great. You're going to play only half court'
'Oh, that sounds perfect. So, I might have to face Rohan, Nikhil and Gowtham. I have Karthick and Madhav at my side. Except for the fact that Nikhil is too tall to block, Karthick might match his skills. And Gowtham is a cake walk for Madhav. I'll play Rohan. Wow'. I jolted up.
Rohan was one of the finest basketball players I've ever met. If not for his professional skills and moves in the game, my Courtyard team may easily take the Sans Cavaliers down. The Cavaliers are huge and have high ball potentials, but they lack manoeuvre moves. There were possibilities that I could win. Excitement stood at its peak.
'When?'. I asked, confidence pulling my eyebrows up.
'Friday evening after the classes.' She said.
'Oh', I frowned.'Why is it on the friday evening ?' I asked, remembering my commitment with Sameera.
'Why? You've got some important commitment, eh?' She teased.
I grimaced.
'It is on the evening of friday because, the Cavaliers are playing against the Shire team on saturday at the YMCA stadium and this match is as important to Rohan as you are to me'. She winked.
