Carrie's POV:
"Carrie, please come down here dear!" My personal servant, Lilli, called up the stairs. Groaning I slipped on my slippers and walked down the winding staircase. At the bottom as I finally looked up I noticed a man that looked similar to my father talking to Lilli. I cleared my throat to get their attention and as the guy turned toward me I realized that his facial expression was grim. Today was my 15th birthday and I had planned to spend it cooped up in my room. The man looked me up and down and I felt myself beginning to get warm from his stare. It was like he was planning my death on the spot, picking out the right gag and weapon. Finally he cleared his throat. "Ah Carrie, how've you grown. You look just like your father....except for your green eyes. Such a pity you couldn't have our side of the family's blue eyes." He said with a thick Scottish accent. I cringed at his comment for I had always loved my green eyes, even if they were just like my mums. "Excuse me but who are you and why are you talking to me?" I said professionaly. He laughed bitterly and grinned an evil grin and said "Why don't you remember me Carrie? I'm your uncle Simon.". Lilli laughed along with him and that's when I noticed my suitcases were packed and sitting by the door. Then a realization dawned on me and my eyes widened. "I am not going away...expecially with him!" I said accusingly, pointing my finger at Simon. Simon just chuckled as Lilli led me to my room. When she shut the door I started screaming bloody murder, "I am not going with him!! Why wouldn't you even ask my permission!!!". Her facial expression hardened and she slammed me against the wall. "Your father told me before he died that he wanted you to go to your uncles. You have no say in this and that's how its going to be. Now get dressed, you leave in a few minutes!". With that she walked out and slammed the door in my face. I sunk to the floor, tears streaming down my face. 'You can't do this...' I thought. 'By its what your father wanted...you have to'. I picked myself up off he ground and regained my thoughts. This was for my dad...I have to do this. I walked to my closet and brought out the only colorful dress I owned-a sleeveless maroon dress that reached my knees. The bodice had a sweet heart neckline that was lined with gold, and the bottom was straight with gold lining the bottom. It was kinda pretty...I guess. I slipped it on and put on a pair of gold knee high boots. I brushed through my grayish-black hair and threw it in a ponytail. Looking in the mirror one last time I clipped my gold cape in place and slid my pocket knife in my boot. I opened my door, took a deep breath, and went back downstairs to my doom.
As I said goodbye to all the servants and as I collected all of my favorite books from the library, I still couldn't shake the bad feeling I was getting. I knew this was wrong, to just leave the place I'd always known, but something was still pushing me forwards. Every time I felt like stopping, it propelled me forwards at a speed faster than the last, like it was giddy to leave. Maybe it was because I felt to cooped up, or wanted to start fresh, but those were regular answers. I knew mine was going to be far from regular. Simon, if that's his real name, helped me load my luggage into the back of the carriage. After I said my goodbyes, Simon ushered me out the door and into the backseat. The road was rocky and made the carriage bounce so many times I thought that the wheels were about to break off. Only when we were in the middle of he woods did I realize that Simon hadn't talked to me in a while. I opened the small window that lead to the front seat expecting to find him fast asleep but instead saw a guy in all black. With a startled scream I whipped open my door and flung myself into the ditch, hopping for a soft landing. I crashed into the ditch but got up immediately and started running back towards the house. In the distance I could hear men yelling orders and at one point I felt an arrow knick my ear. I kept running, not wanting to look back and I did so until my chest stung like I was getting stabbed. I stopped just for a second to regain my breath for I thought I lost them. All of a sudden I was tackled to the ground, and as I looked up I was met with a pair of strikingly blue eyes.
