Grandmas

When Dane and his mom finished checking out the house it was already getting late "oh it's almost 8 grandma Diana is letting us stay at her house till the moving van comes tomorrow afternoon" said Karla. Dane rolled his eyes and said "oh yippee I can't wait" in a sarcastic voice, Karla gave him a dirty look. She was about to say something when the phone rang, she took her phone out of her pocket and started chatting away like grown ups do "yes....mmhm....I see.....no sorry.....oh ok I'll tell him right away" then she put the phone down and looked at Dane. "Sweetie that was skytop middle school they said they have gotten you registered so u can go to school tomorrow" she said "what I can't go to school tomorrow I haven't unpacked and if I go to school tomorrow I'll miss the Moving van" Dane whined "I'll make u a deal sweetie we go to the car get an outfit that we packed in the trunk go to grandmas then we stay for just 1 night and in the morning you go to school and I'll get home before the moving van comes and I'll get the house ready and anything that's yours I'll just stick in ur room for u to decide what u want to do with it" his mom said "umm ok deal" then they shook hands "let's go to grandmas" Karla sang out. The car ride was very awkward no one said anything Dane just stared out the window. "How about some music" asked Karla, Dane just shrugged his shoulders. When they finally got to grandma diana's, she was waiting for them on the porch. They got out of the car to greet her "Karla it's been forever how's the new house" grandma Diana asked "oh the house is just perfect I can't wait for u to see it" Karla said "oh and Dane haven't you grown so much since the last time I saw you" grandma Diana yelled happily Dane just shrugged and looked at the ground. "Well shall we go inside its hot out here there's air conditioning inside" they all stepped up to the porch and went inside the house smelled like cookies and perfume, they went to the living room grandma Diana and Karla sat on the couch and Dane just stood not saying anything "Dane sweetie I made cookies u can go to the kitchen and get some if ur hungry there's milk in the fridge if ur thirsty to" Diana said, Dane walked to the kitchen because he was kinda hungry and his grandma's baking was really delicious. While he was eating his cookies he heard his mom and grandma talking in the living room "so how's Dane holding up" grandma Diana said "well he's trying" Karla said "that's good" Diana said Karla nodded in agreement "well have u decided what ur going to do for thanksgiving having it at your house or mine it's only a week away and it's Friday today then all kids have next week off for thanksgiving break" Diana asked to quickly change the subject "I'm not sure where yet if I'm going to have it at my house or not but forget that it's 9:00 I better get Dane to bed. She stood up and walked to the kitchen "come on Dane time for bed" she said to Dane who was sitting at the table with a glass of milk, Dane chugged the glass of milk down and went to the bathroom to take a shower, when he got into the guest bedroom he got into bed. His mom came in and kissed his four head "goodnight" she whispered and flicked off the light.
