Chapter 2 - The New Life

April was now living in Doncaster. In her parents will she chose as to what would happen to her if she was a minor. Being silly and thinking that her parents wouldn't pass away while she was that young she chose to got to an orphanage in Doncaster, England. She had always wanted to live in England, preferably London, and didn't realise how far away her choice was from London. As soon as she was eighteen and could sign herself out, provided she hadn't been adopted (but really who adopts a seventeen year old?), April was prepared to move to London and being her new life.

As she sat in her small three metre by three metre (10 by 10 feet) room she brushed her mid-back length hair. Her hair was naturally wavy, and the perfect shade of brown, which complemented her hazel-green eyes and skin tone. In the past April had dyed her hair different colours, such as red and blonde and each colour suited her just as much as the previous one did. Girls were always envious of her hair, while she hated being the one that everyone envied. April always compared her flaws to others, never seeing her real beauty and never thinking that she was good enough.

Doncaster wasn’t a massive town meaning that not a lot of people wanted to adopt. Each day she wished that she would be adopted and welcomed into a family and it must be true when people say what you wish for as this is where April’s story starts.

April was sitting on her laptop attempting to her assignment that she had been given today. She attended school next to the orphanage and since the move her mind couldn't focus on one thing at a time. As she heard a knock on her door she shut down her YouTube tab and opened up what she had already done of the assignment. She silently prayed that it was someone who was looking to adopt, preferably someone older.

Every time someone new came to adopt it was mandatory that each child within the building was shown. This was so that everyone had the chance to be seen and the couple/person looking for a child didn't just base their future child on a list, but on personality.

“This is April Smith. She is the eldest child here and well I will let you get to know her a bit more.” Mary, the owner of the orphanage, left the room for the woman to get to know April. When Mary introduced the children she made it sound like they were a show piece at an exhibition.

April turned around from the desk to see a woman in her forties wearing sunglasses. It was sunny outside but April found it weird for the lady to be wearing sunnies inside.

The woman removed her glasses and April’s inner fangirl came out. “Ermergard, you’re Joannah Tomlinson. Oh my gosh, I’m sorry, total fangirl moment. Let’s start again.” April fixed her dress and hair. “I’m April Smith.” She held out her hand hoping for Jay to shake, which she gladly accepted the offer.

“So you’re a fan of my son and his bandmates?” Jay questioned as she shook April’s hand. It was obvious that Jay knew the answer, but the fact that she asked it made April feel a little less awkward. It made her feel a bit more at ease about the whole topic. For the next half an hour the two talked about April and the things she liked, disliked, what she wanted to be and her past.

“So how come are you wanting to adopt? I mean I know you’ve just had another two twins, Ernest and Doris. Everyone that comes here usually gets one of the younger children, why would you want another young child?” April paused thinking about what her question really was. “Sorry I didn't mean it like that. I have a habit of talking without thinking things through throughly.”

“It’s alright love. I don't necessarily want someone younger but maybe I need someone who is older around to help me take care of the others. I don't mean a nanny, but someone to be a role model for the girls.” April could sense where Jay was headed with this.

Ten agonising minutes. That’s how long April had to wait for some form of confirmation as to what was happening with her. Just when she needed time to go fast it went slower.

“April, good news. You should probably get your things packed in to days ‘cause you’re going home.” April had hoped for this day to come at some stage. While she had planned how everything would go exactly nothing seemed to follow her plan. She had planned on a victory dance, now she stood there still. Her things to be packed ready to go, since it had been a few months she gave up on waiting and unpacked everything. Mary left her alone to process the news while April still stood there for a few minutes still in shock before beginning to pack.

AN: So the original Chapter 2 didn't post properly so I had to re-write. Poop.

Update 28/06/2014 - So I have re-written this chappie. I don't think much has changed, let's not mention how bad my writing was. As you can see I am writing this all in third person POV. It just flows a bit easier and will work better when I am writing from different POV's

Ermagerd. Don't Let Me Go is amazing.
