Hayden paced back and forth in the basement. She was alone for once, and as always her thoughts were on Ben and the beginning of their problems in Boston.
He stood in front of her, having just finished having sex. She had been his mistress for about a year now, and was falling head over heels in love. She had always known he had a wife and daughter, but they weren't happy.
How can you be happy when your marriage is falling apart?
Ben was everything to Hayden. Her family shunned her for being so low that she could actually ruin someone's marriage.
But it wasn't Hayden who was ruining it.
Vivian didn't understand her husband. How could she? Otherwise she would have noticed his distance, his reluctance to touch her. In reality they had been falling apart for years.
"Hayden, we need to talk."
Sadness had settled into his face. Hayden sensed bad news.
"What's wrong, Ben?"
"Vivian is pregnant."
"How?!"
"I was drunk. It was our anniversary. The condom must've broke."
Hayden chuckled. Sad when your husband refuses to touch you without protection, but not me.
"What are you going to do?"
"The only thing I can. We have to end this. I'm sorry, but I have a family. "
Rage billowed off her in waves. How dare he?!
"You'll be back, Ben."
And he was, six months later when Vivian lost the baby. He called her as he was leaving the hospital, claiming that the baby they lost was her last chance. And a month later, Hayden made sure Vivian found out.
It had been a nice night. Vivian was at a movie with Violet. Things were going amazingly. Her original plan was to leave something behind for Vivian to find.
What she didn't expect was for his wife to come home just as things were really heating up.
"What the fuck, Ben?!"
The adulterers had sprang apart to see Vivian in the doorway to the master bedroom, their daughter just behind her. Vivian had the phone in her hand, and you could hear static and a voice.
"Ma'am is everything okay?"
Vivian put the phone back up to her ear.
"Apparently I don't need an officer. It was my husband, screwing some cheap whore in our bed."
She hung up and threw the phone. It bounced off the headboard, the back flying off and hitting Ben. The battery fell to the floor, the phone behind the headboard. She turned and left, Violet following.
"I think I should go." Hayden whispered. She got dressed and left. Ben didn't say anything, just nodded. And two weeks with no contact went by.
Then one day, in the middle of the third week Ben stopped by to tell her they were moving to Los Angeles.
She had lost, they were fixing their marriage.
Two months later, she found herself staring at a positive pregnancy test. She called Ben to tell him, who told her he'd be back in Boston to talk to her.
That conversation was not happy in the very least.
He had rang the doorbell. When she answered the door to see a very solomn Ben on her porch. He told her that things were just getting worked out, and Hayden's baby was to be aborted. But there would be no relationship between them. He left, went home to his family.
But hayden wasn't giving up. Determined to ruin any chance of them getting back together, she had a plan.
She came up with a story, and went to visit Ben. She threatened to tell Vivian everything.
Unfortunately, as all of Hayden's plans do, it failed.
Hayden wound up dead and buried under the gazebo, thanks to Larry. But that didn't stop her vengeful spirit. Because of the curse, she was cursed to never leave the murder house, with Halloween the only exception. She watched Vivian die in childbirth with one of her twins. Heard Tate whine that despite his attempt, Violet committed suicide.
Ben was trying to leave the house.
He was going to take Violet and leave, go back to Boston. Hayden would never see him again.
She couldn't lose him like that.
Instead she used Tate to kill him. And for three days his body swung from the railing on the third floor until the real estate agent found him.
"What are you doing, Hayden?"
Hayden turned to see Patrick. He was leaning against the table, watching her. She scoffed at him.
"Shouldn't you be cheating on Chad somewhere?" She hissed. When she died, she lost all respect for adulterers. If it wasn't for Ben, she'd be on some beach, at her wedding about now instead of wandering a house for the rest of time and watching the only man she ever loved be happy with his wife.
"Nah. It won't be freedom day for months, you know that. I came down here to get away from his sniveling though. I can't believe I found him attractive. "
"Go find someone else to annoy then." Hayden turned and started to walk away. She had some planning to do.
If she couldn't kill Ben, she was going to destroy him.
And Patrick just gave her an idea.
