Claire gently pushed a white flower into her Alpha's hair, accompanying the many others.

Alix didn't want to do any of this, but she reluctantly agreed after a fire of defiance blew out. Her whole body was tense, even after a special bath in an actual tub inside the castle. Alix could remember the lemons slices that floated over the water, her scent being drawn to recall.

The alpha was put into her short, white silk dress. She was given sandals, too. Claire had done Alix's hair, somehow putting flowers into her long, thick hair. Golden ringlets fell around her shoulders, so she refused to brush her hair as the curls would disperse. Alix looked down at the sandals, narrowing her eyes at the foreign object. Claire stood beside her, wearing pink flowers instead of white, but stayed close to what Alix wore. The two were going on a journey to the Middle Grounds, a small spot of land all packs decided was neutral ground.

"Are you worried?" Claire suddenly asked Alix. Alix's eyes flickered to Claire's own.

"I suppose, a little." She answered.  The two then stayed silent, not knowing what to say. Alix's shoulders lowered with a sigh. The two had to go into a car; a new word to them both. The two girls raised from their spots and without a second glance, Alix walked out of her tent. her legs were heavy with dread and regret.

Why couldn't I have been strong enough to stand up to him?

Alix's thoughts raced around her brain, racking against her skull and pounding against her mind, wanting to be heard. Alix refrained from ranting to Claire, her feet dragging towards the car that sat in front of the Alpha's Castle. Claire inhaled sharply, her eyes wondering to Alpha Morris and his wife, Luna Nell. The tall woman, Nell, had beautiful blonde hair and golden eyes. Alix took after her mother, which she almost hated. Nell's eyes met with Alix's, a scowl on her morphing face. Her daughter frowned.

A boy a couple of years younger than Alix ran out of the castle. Alix swallowed. Blake, her first brother, ran up behind their parents. Surely Blake knew that Alix was his sister, but it was still difficult to see him. Memories flooded of her younger years when she still lived with her parents.

Alix would cling to Nell's long legs, holding her dad's hand as he stood behind the two. In a family picture that was taken long ago, Alix was happy and united with her family. They all bore bright smiles as Alix sat on her mom's lap and played with her father's beard. She could remember the way the light bounced off of their eyes. Her mother's eyes were closed due to her laughter, but Alix could still sense the joy through the picture. Now that picture was gone. Burned in a fire. Alix's heart clenched. When her mother had Blake, they all realized that Alix was simply a screw-up. Luna Nell could have boys, she could give heirs. So they rejected Alix and put her with the mutts.

It was because of Blake that her life wasn't the way it was supposed to be. And for that, Alix resented Blake.

Alix met up with the three. Claire stood close behind Alix, the dominance, anger, and tension almost too much for her Omega heart to bare. Even outside in the open air, it was tense and dark. Blake looked at Alix with curiosity.

"Who's this?" His deep voice asked. Alix's eyes met with her mother's briefly. Couldn't Blake tell? Alix looked just like his mother.

Morris spoke first. "A mutt. She's going off to the Mating Ceremony."

Suddenly, Blake lit up. "Really? I was heading to that! Maybe this member and I can go together."

Alix and Claire tensed. Nell turned to her son. "You're an Alpha, honey. You shouldn't be in a car with a Mutt and an Omega!" She laughed as if it was the silliest thing she had ever heard. Alix narrowed her eyes at the ground, mentally glaring at Nell's choice words. Blake grunted. "No, as an Alpha I should get to know my mutts, so I'll be going with them. Excuse me."
