How could I forget?
Alix stared at the woman across from her, making sure her back was straight. The woman went on about Alix's manners, her eyes trained on the long dark hairs that covered the older woman's head. They waved and danced as she paced, her anger growing each step. Nerys slammed her hand against the makeshift wardrobe in order to catch Alix's attention.
"Listen!" She scolded. "Your mother did not raise you-"
No, she didn't. Alix bit her tongue, looking down in submission.
"-to say such unlawful things! The Seer wrote a list, Alixander, a list! It notes every word you uttered at that Ceremony. Your father was not impressed!"
He never is.
Alix felt a growl biting at her lips, but she refused to give in. She looked away, staring at the beaten down grass below her. Alix wanted to cry about her being caught but her anger refused it. She couldn't be mad at Nerys. Nerys was like a mother to her, seeing as how her own refused to take care of Alix.
Nerys sighed. "Were you trying to make this pack look foolish, flicka*?"
Alix met her curious stare. She took this as a time to speak. "No, but can't you understand what he was doing? Alfa* was giving away my position to any old mutt!"
The old woman sighed, remembering things the Alpha had said. "I see." She paused before speaking up, seeing that Alix was about to spill with words. "Think like this; he wasn't trying to harm you. You know Alphas have to go through that training that kills several-"
"Nerys, I was born for that! This isn't a matter of him protecting me! Simple. He was giving it away for his sake. How could you tell me that? Why excuse him?" Nerys stared at the young girl before turning. She knew Alix was right but even a bird knew no one would go against their Alpha's word. Alix watched as she left the tent without another word.
Alix fell back on her bed, letting that growl from before out. People treated her as a doll as if she was about to shatter under any stress. She hated it. There was more unsaid from Nerys but Alix knew it was locked away due to her facade of delicacy.
Her eyes trained on the deer pelt she laid on. Her golden irises traced the outline, where the soft fur ended. Her eyes were something she loved. Her freedom was another thing, but her eyes connected to that too.
"My eyes hold the sun, the moon, and the stars. They hide a goddess and a queen, wielding happy smiles for shields and long lashes for swords." Alix whispered, knowing it was a crime to compare yourself to the Goddess. If anyone had heard her - even Nerys, she would be sent to the jails.
Her silky white dress had a gust of wind brush against her legs, making her look over to see her handmaiden, Claire. The small girl stood in the entrance of the tall tent, her forearm holding up one side away from her face. She held oils and cloth inside a small painted basket. Alix focused on the girl. Claire wore a white dress but it, unfortunately, stained as she walked amongst the dirt ground. Her bare feet poked through the dress as she walked forward.
Alix always saw her as a friend, but around others, they had to act like an Alpha and an Omega.
Claire's shoulder-length hair was tucked back with flowers and Alix was caught admiring them as she kneeled down besides Alix. She smiled, "Do you like them, Alpha?"
She nodded, not minding her title. It separated her, sure, but she didn't mind it. Not even when she was little and boys were scared to even play tag with her because they thought the Alpha would hurt them.
