A/N: Ok, don't kill me. I know, I suck at updating and I probably shouldn't start something new, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. This isn't gonna be like a continual story, it'll be more of random oneshots and drabbles based on this AU. I already wrote some, and I think they're pretty entertaining. I hope you guys like this, I do, so humor me. Enjoy!
Prologue
"Shamus!" I called out using my 'walk' tone. I waited by the door, holding the infamous purple leash. Just as expected, the lanky Rottweiler came trampling out of the room and ran to me.
He panted excitedly and sat in front of me, waiting for his daily walk. "Good boy, Shamy," I coaxed as I scratched him behind his ears.
He wagged his thick tail, waiting for the leash. I willingly put it on before opening my apartment door and entering the hallway.
I was taken by surprise when I saw my across-the-hall neighbor, Jon, carrying a box out of his apartment.
"Come on, I've only had your whisk for like a week. I was about to return it. It's nothing to move out over," I pleaded, jokingly.
Jon laughed as he turned towards me, "Don't worry Scotty, it's not you. I just...met someone," he stated with a shrug.
I gasped excitedly and grinned at me, "Tell me about her," I stated in a tone that suggested we were horny schoolboys.
"Her name is Morgan. She keeps me on my toes," he assured me.
I nodded, "Well, I'm happy for you man," I replied.
Shamus let out a bark of agreement, making Jon laugh, "Thanks," he replied.
I nodded, still smiling before looking down at Shamus. "Well, I think Shamus will eat me if I don't take him on his walk. And I have to stop at the vet, he's been puking all morning," I added, sadly as I scratched his head.
"Aw, poor boy. Well, I'm heading out, it's been good knowing you kid," Jon informed me before setting the box down and holding his arms out for a hug.
"I'll miss your music blasting at 2 in the morning," I assured him sarcastically as I returned his hug.
He laughed, "Take care of yourself," he instructed.
"You too," I replied before waving and heading towards the stairs.
"Oh yeah, I think the landlord said your new neighbor was moving in today," he added.
"Ok cool," I called back before turning towards the stairs.
I didn't talk to Jon all that much, sure we went out and got drinks every once in a while, or played cards out of boredom, but I was still gonna miss him.
When we finally arrived at the vet, I glanced around the waiting room. There was a couple and their little boy with a husky puppy. Then there was a middle aged looking woman with a cat. It was a pretty cat, but as cliché as it sounds, I was more of a dog person.
Then there was someone that caught my attention. It was a young man. He had dark bangs that framed the left side of his face. He looked smaller than me, but with a great physique. He had light stubble and just a perfect face in general.
God, I needed to get laid.
But of course, he was holding a cat.
At least, I think it was a cat. It looked more like a hairless rat.
Shamus apparently didn't like this cat in particular, because without warning, he started barking viciously, trying to lunge at the hairless creature.
