"I swear I'm gonna kill that boy," I grumbled angrily to myself as I entered the house.
"Hey Riley, how was detention?" My father asked from the couch.
"It was gre- wait, how did you know I had detention? I never told you."
"You didn't have to. Now, I have a little birdie who keeps an eye out for you in school and tells me anything important I need to know." My father replied smugly.
"And this little birdie is?"
"None of your business. Now why were you in detention?" I raised my eyebrows in suspicion.
"Didn't you're little birdie tell you?" I mocked.
"Now that would be stalking!" I rolled my eyes but replied anyways.
"I was late to class and missed two periods because of your little birdie."
"What?" He turned around to face me." You know who my little birdie is?"
"Cut it out dad, it's non other than Tyler and he isn't as angelic as you think he is." I stated.
"Sweetie, I have known that boy for years. He wouldn't even hurt a fly!" He claimed, before turning back to watch his action movie.
"Alright, whatever you say." I sighed in defeat. It was no point arguing with dad, especially when he is focused on his action movie or when he's in the kitchen. "I'm going to take a bath."
"Uh huh, have fun honey," he mumbled with a flick off his hand.

I paced around my room, contemplating on how I should tell my dad about my phone. He will kill me- 'Ding dong bell'. We have guests?
"Greg! Tyler! Come on in, the table is all set, I'm just gonna call Riley down," my dad welcomed our guests as I crouched at the top of the staircase, eavesdropping on their conversation.
"It's ok uncle Johnny, I'm sure you would love to hear about dad's new football trophy collection. I'll go call Riley down for you." I heard Tyler say to my father. My eyes bulged out at how Tyler was sucking up to dad and almost wanted to puke when dad said," Why thank you Tyler, you are like the perfect son I never had." Gee thanks dad, way to go showing love for your one and only daughter. I quickly got up and ran into my room and jumped on my bed, grabbing the nearest book to me.
As expected, not long after, Tyler came barging in.
"Hey princess, daddy's got dinner waiting for you downstairs. Care to join us?" I rolled my eyes at his exaggerated accent and continued reading my book. From the corner of my eye, I saw his lips quirk up in a smirk. Oh no, trouble is coming.
"Whatcha readin'?" He asked, leaning in and scrunching up his nose. Darn it! I was in such a hurry to grab the book, I didn't even glance at the title.
"A book," I stated. Seriously? That's the best I can come up with? Anyone with eyes knows that it is a book.
He chuckled. "I know, I meant what book is it?"
"Can't you read the title on the cover?"
"I could if you turned it back up," he said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, oblivious.
"You're reading it upside down."
