Chapter 2: Is It Progress If A Cannibal Uses A Fork?

Stephanie's Point Of View

I found myself in a pitch black room. There was a chilly atmosphere making me feel on edge along with the hairs on my neck. Even though I was conscious enough to know I was dreaming, I didn‘t have the power to control it. Something screamed at me to run before it caught me but I didn’t understand what I was suppose to be running from. “There’s no running from it Stephanie.” A girls voice laughed sadistically from somewhere in the room, echoing. I turned left and right, spinning, only to be greeted by darkness. My mouth was dry but there was a lump forming in my throat making it impossible to breath.

“Hello? Is someone there?” I asked clutching my hand to my chest in fear. I was answered by the echo of my voice that seemed endless along with this room, or I assume it’s a room. I took small steps and put my hands in front of me to feel my way around. “Over here.” the same female voice sang, the direction of her voice impossible to locate. I started sprinting, not caring about logic anymore. I was stopped by a cold, smooth wall. I felt around to find it was a thin narrow rectangle. Out of no where a white light flashed on top of it, only surrounding me and what seems to be a mirror I looked in the mirror to see my reflection but couldn’t recognize the girl in the mirror. She was gorgeous, I’m not.

Her long black hair cascaded around her  waist, the layers of her spiral curls making her hair seem thick when I have thin, crappy curls. Her light green cat eyes seemed big and shined with  long eyelashes and  her eyeliner  edging out at the corners of her eyes. Her fair skin seemed soft and well taken care of vs. my usual dry skin. Her red lips with the perfect cupid’s bow matched the beautiful dress she wore covered in black roses, I looked down but was dumbfound to see I wore the exact same dress. I looked straight back into the mirror as I rose a shaking hand. I placed my hand against my cheek as the girl in the mirror also pressed her hand against her cheek. Her faced seemed very surprised and confused, kind of how I felt. Was I wearing the same expression? I slightly parted my lips and blew on my finger. My hot breath felt warm against my finger as I was still cold from this odd place.

The knot that was in my throat slowly descended down my esophagus, leaving a slimy gross feeling. It kind of felt like when you have a bloody nose and tilt your head up to stop the bleeding but the blood rushes down your throat. I shudder in horror. When I was younger I had an obsession with lucid dreaming thinking it was unfair I had to waste time sleeping and not even remember what I dreamt. I read that every once in a while it was good to do a reality check like look in a mirror or feel something, or pinching yourself. I felt queasy as I refused to pinch myself I’m positive I’m sleeping but I’ve passed more then one test to prove I was in reality. Was it possible I could be in between?

“It is Stephanie.” My reflection answered. I stepped back slightly with the mirror following suit. “What’s wrong Stephanie? Scared?” My reflection questioned pretending to be worried as she placed her hands to her lips. She removed her hands to expose the satisfied smirk. She gave a villainous laugh as her confused expression morphed into a sinister one. Ease up Stephanie, I’m not here to hurt you.” She informed me bored as she picked at her perfectly manicured hand. “Who are you? What are you?” I questioned her, unnerved by her presence. “She cocked her head to the side curiously. “Are you being serious or joking?” she asked rhetorically. “I’m you of course, well a part of you that you’ll soon enough know more about. With all the confusion and fear stirring in me I could feel frustration being added to the mix by her mysteriousness. I knew she was dangerous and should of left the moment I saw my reflection but a part of me wanted to know what she was talking about.

“Don’t fight the mojo Stephanie. When the time comes, the dark mojo will come to engulf you in it’s power. Don’t fight it, accept it’s embrace.” she foreshadowed. “Don’t fight it, accept it.” she chanted as blood, a shade between dark red and black ran down  the corners of her eyes as if she was crying it. Then it began to flow out of her mouth. I felt something go up my throat as I puked it up. I looked at my hands to see the same blood on them. I stared in terror as the blood in the mirror started to form into a  crooked crystal blade and my reflection stepped out. With the scythe in her hand she once more gave me a sweet wicked smile and slashed at me.

I screamed as I shot up in bed, my whole body moist with sweat. I panted as I pulled at my clothes that stuck to me. Adam immediately pulled me in his arms as he stroked my back. He didn't question what was wrong as he saw I wasn't ready yet. I didn’t even try to keep my tears at bay as I wrapped my self around him and cried into the crook of his neck. I trembled in his arms as we stayed like that till dawn.

Hey guys! This chapter is somewhat of a filler and hopefully make more sense later in the future. Till friday. Peace skies.
