Megan Lane (A Flashpoint story)

Trying to help my bff

  I led Greg to the elevators that led to the roof. We walked onto the roof and we stood back away from Jamie by a meter. Greg hooked something on my belt so  I wouldn't fall and he did the same thing to himself. I inched closer to her. She turned slightly, but when she saw us, she went more close to the edge.

'' Jamie!  Please don't jump!'' I yelled.

'' why shouldn't I. People wished I killed myself a long time ago. So why shouldn't I Megan!'' Jamie said. I swallowed hard.

'' because you're life is worth living for.'' I said.

'' no it's not Megan.'' Jamie said.

'' course it is. Why are you doing this?'' I ask, confidently.

'' because my older brother committed suicide and I want too because I'm going through the same things with cyber-bullying. I just want to be with him.'' Jamie said, a tear running her cheek.

'' Jamie, you know he's in a better place now.'' I said.

'' I thought he was with me and I was doing okay.'' Jamie said.

'' did he tell you what he was going through with the cyber-bullying.'' I asked, moving towards her slowly.

'' no, that's why I want the chance to ask him.'' she said, moving more to the edge.

'' you can, I can help you, there has to be a way to contact him, pray to him and see what will happen if he answers you.'' I say, wondering if what I just said might happen.

'' but what if he doesn't?'' she asks, turning to me.

'' then you'll know that you tried your best.'' I said, inching more close.

'' stand back! Or I'll jump!'' Jamie screamed. I took a step back.

'' Jamie, we all want to go home today. We all want to see our parents at the end of the day. Your parents don't want you to commit suicide and I'm sure and Megan, life is what you make it. I can help you and Sergeant Greg can help you too. You just can't cut your life short because of bullying.'' I said, whispering into my earpiece and asking dad to come up.

''  yes I can because Randy did too!'' She yelled even louder.

'' Jamie! Don't. If you fall, I'm going after you. I've always had your back and you've always had mine. Everyone has my back. Dad's here, Greg's here. All of team 1 is here to help. They all got my back.'' I said.

'' then where is your team.'' Jamie yelled, almost jumping.

'' Spike's in the long car, working on IDS and stuff. Sam, Wordy and Jules are down below us and Dad, well he's coming.'' I said as dad came up.

'' Jamie, your parents love you and they want you to come down. Your parents are down there, waiting for you to come. Look down. They are right below us. If you jump, that just means that the people who brought you up here won.'' Dad said.

'' okay, I'll come down.'' She said as she turned and slipped.
