It takes time to adjust to a new world when you finally open your eyes. The weekend  air felt new as it blew against me and danced around me as if it understood the happiness I felt. The sky was clear blue and the sun was at it's highest. The heat didn't bother me much but everyone hid under the shade so again I was differant because of something as simple as this. Roxy is a whole new book that's unread. She prefered to rest in the trees then in the shade or outside in the sun but I liked it that way. We're both outsiders in the social world so it only makes sense to stick together to satify our issue of being alone.  Though it made me jealous to see how talented she was in climbing so fast and effortless, my clumsiness would never allow me to climb the stairs let alone a tree. Her short hair hid in the shadows of the branches along with her beanie but she finally took her sweater off and I saw that she was very muscular. She had a white tank top on that fit all her curves from her bust to her torso but I noticed her skin was very pale as if it never touched the ray of the sun.

"Hey, so what do you want to do now?" Roxy said.

"I dont know, I don't want to go home. Maybe, we can hang out at your place?" I asked now sitting under the tree.

"Ummm, I don't know.....I don't really have a home like you do. I live in a foster home and I'm not even welcome there. A couple of rich folk took both of us in and favoured Reily the most and I ended up getting the leftovers, do you know what I mean? I live everywhere I guess. One night I would sleep in a tree and the next I would spend the night at a friend's house." she said with a sigh.

"Well, you are welcome at my house anytime, you don't even have to ask. Back to figuring out something for us to do, how does going to the library sound?" I suggested.

"There's a park next to it, what about there?" she said after she flipped out of the tree.

"Sure, I dont think it's that far from here. Do you know where it is?" I asked.

"Yea, like the back of my hand. Let's go." she said as she raced away to the park.

Roxy ran faster  than I thought because in a matter of minutes, I lost her and almost got my own self lost. Then I turned around and she was right next to me and again lead me to the park and I noticed that her sweater was back on. Roxy still makes me wonder about her.  Finally we got to the park, Roxy ran straight to the monkey bars and swung through them gracfully and did differant acrobatic tricks on it just to show off while I sat by a nearby pond and looked at my reflection. I saw myself but it didn't feel complete. I could feel something beyond myself that's somehow held back. It's like when you look in the mirror and she someone else is looking back at you. It quenched the fire inside and cooled the heat.

"Hey, what's wrong?" she said on top of the monkey bars.

"Do you miss your parents?" I asked dazed at my own reflection.

"I wouldn't know, I've never met them. Why? What are you feeling?" she said now beside me .

"I miss mine. After my dad diedand all hell broke loose from then but I feel that he took a part of me with him but I could never love my mom the way I love my dad." I said as a tear ran down my face.

"That comes with a death of a loved one. When you realize that they're not there anymore, it hurts to only have their memory of them. It hurt more when you dont even have that or even know if your real parents are alive or not. Trust me, you're not alone." she said looking in my eyes.

Her brown eyes looked differant this time as if it was now the colour of honey. She hugged me and her sweater acted as a blanket and covered my body but she felt cold. This brought my mind to be puzzled because all these signs scream out, vampire. I wasn't crazy thinking that, knowing what I'm capabe of doing.
