Part VI

The music flooded in like a rush of water to my ears. Everywhere sparkled with lights from a reflective ball on the ceiling along with that was small boxes that blew out white smoke on the floor so the floor would be barely seen. Tables were along the walls while speakers, other huge decorations and Ms. Dowry were sitting by a the trophy table. I became speechless to where I was because it was exactly to what I imagined. I wish Roxy was here but the thought of her, brought my mind to her sister and her group of popular people.  All of them showed up, even Reily came to the party in a tight, light blue dress along with the other girls who also wore tight dresses, having big jocks at their side. Typical. I could see on their faces that they were more interested in the other girls at prom than the ones on their shoulders. So I found a seat at the back of the room (since it was weird of me standing in the middle of the cafeteria doing nothing) with a single rose on a small vase on a silk cloth. It wasn't long until people started to dance in pairs on the open floor which was awkward to watch since I was the only one not dancing. I recognized the songs that played because I remember hearing it through my window from someone's car radio. Food and lit candles were served by suprising waiters and it tasted good as I ate by myself.

"Well, look who we have here? Where is your partner in crime?" a popluar girl with black hair spoke out to me with the others behind her.

I didn't respond but I noticed that Reily looked terrified towards me and I felt sorry for her. She didn't belong with them. She looked like she hasn't slept for a while yet it was covered with make-up. They left since I gave them no response and saw that all of them whispered among each other on their way back to their table. Obviously something was up so I kept alert to them as the party continued then after a long time of dancing and slow dancing for the couples, somehow they handed out awards for very stupid things (which was confusing due to the fact that it was a normal party but then again this would be my first). Next to the vase was a small card that had the rankings of awards and I looked ridiculous.

1. Best Dressed Award

2. Smarty Award

3. King and Queen of the School Award

4. Best Newbie to the School Award

The last one troubled me because I had a feeling that I would be called since I was most likely the only one that is new around this school. Maybe that's why the popular people came to me in  the first place. Seeing this made me even more alert to what they're up to. For the best dressed Ms. Dowry called out one of the popular girls from the group who had long, orange hair, wore a hot pink dress and clearly wore too much make-up which made me question mine; thinking I didn't have enough on. For the Smarty Award, a short blonde who was also a member of the popular group came to the stage. She wore a short tight purple dress; her body covered with jewelry and had tall high heels to match. This was getting annoying This wasn't a party for everyone but a party to showcase the popular group and no one seemed to realize it which got me a little heated on the matter. Next was the King and Queen of the School Award, I didn't bother to look or care about who it was so I made my way to the exit to free myself from this hell but once I stepped out, I heard my name.

"Abby, why don't you come up here and claim your reward." Ms Dowry announced.

My eyes and ear couldn't believe what was happening but my mind was clear. I looked around seeing that everyone heard it too and tried to back away slowly but it was too late now, I should've ran when I had the chance.  I glanced over to the popular table already for my defeat in fleeing and they didn't seemed suprised which put me more on egde. Ms. Dowry smiled at me as I entered the stage and handed me a small trophy  that read: Best Newbie of the School 2013. I was speechless, more like scared to what follows after because things like this just doesn't happen after all the other winners were a part of the popular group. That's when I saw a grin to one of the girl's faces and I held my reward tighter but it seemed that the audience wanted a speech or some kind of word of thanks but I have now one to thank anyway. So I spoke what came to mind.
