Elena's POV
Well, that...was not quite what I expected.
Martijn, he, I, I don't even know what to say.
Wow.Just wow.
Martijn was molested as a kid by one of his teachers. Some bitch. I mean, he was ten years old at the time. Like what? This is the first time I've encountered someone with this kind of problem. Usually its junkies and stupid girls crying and sighing over stupid guys. Honestly, some people exaggerate their problems so much and god, its utter stupidity. And people like Martijn, the ones with the real problems, aren't heard because of these people. Yep, its a messed up world.
So anyway, Martijn. He'd dealt with it by not telling anyone. Which isn't really dealing with it, but the teacher left school anyway after sometime and he didn't want to make a big fuss.
What.The.Heck.
I still can't believe it. Wow, my whole world has turned absolutely upside down in like a month. I think on the 1st of last month, I was with Troye celebrating the release of his new album. And now, I'm trying to help a guy who's been molested, after that same boy found me unconscious in the middle of the road and took me home.
This is all so unrealistic, I can't even...
God, the state of my mind right now, its like a tangled up slinky.
I think I need a nap. Yep, definitely need a nap.
Martijn's POV
So, I told Elena everything. And to be honest, it actually felt pretty good telling her. And she didn't even tell me all the usual bull crap that people do, like time heals and you'll get over it and stuff. And the thing is, she seemed to understand. And then she dropped a bomb. A big one. And I felt like Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the bomb was dropped on them.
Elena told me she'd watched her mother being raped by her father at 8 years old. Of course, she had no idea about it then, but as she grew up, she figured out exactly what had happened. And then she gave me a really good piece of advice in that husky, soothing voice of hers.
After her dad had finished with her mom, Elena had gone to speak to her. And naturally, she asked about what had happened. And Elena's mom told her that it is the way of things, that human beings are meant to go through a whole load of shit, and that women have it much worse and that there's nothing you can do to change it.
But what Elena had learnt while on her journey in life is that you always have a choice. Sometimes it is between two good things, sometimes between two bad things. But you always have a choice and it depends upon you to change your life. It could be going to the dogs, but you have the power to take that and make it into something that you're proud of, something else altogether, something that's good for you and for everyone around you.
Wow. That girl really is something else.
