Chapter Two

"Hey.......hey.........come on its almost time for uni" I woke with Jacob rubing my shoulder.

"Mmmm yup I will be up in a minute" I replied.

"Come on there is cereal on the table and here's the phone, you need to call your mum and tell her you will be fine getting your own ride to school."

"Thanks" I replied taking the phone and dialing my mums number.

"Hello?"

"Yeah hi mum I am at a.."

"Oh my gosh Maddy is that you?"

"Yeah mum it's me I am just at a friends and I will see you this afternoon I have got a ride to school"

"Yes Madie but I have been sooo worried never do this to me again what were you thinking"

"Sorry mum I will see you this afternoon ok? Love you bye

"Yup bye Hun have a nice day at school"

I stood up and went to Jacob "Ah I beter go thanks so much for everything" I turned around and started to walk away. He leaned forward and caught my wrist and pulled back.

"Come, stay a little while I will take you to school. Do you need to pick your uniform from your mums or..."

"Ummm na its really alright I can walk seriously"

"No don't be silly get in the car and we will go to your mums, its only down the road isn't it?"

"Yeah ok, thanks"

As we drove up my driveway I unhooked the house key from around my neck and opened the front door. I walked in to see a large pile of laundry and Mum's slippers and dressing gown hung over the arm of the couch.

I walk into my room, pull my curtains closed and get dressed into my uniform. I then grab my bag, books, a muesli bar, a apple and headed for the door.

"Can you please stop here, here is good. Thanks so much for everything, the lift letting me stay, the whole thing"

"Yeah sure, no worries. We can carpool all the time if you want, its really not a problem"

"ah yeah, sounds good, thanks see ya"

That afternoon I started walking home when I heard a trucks horn. I turned around to see Jacob. "Hey how are you, want a lift?"

"ok, thanks."

"Her er......" He glances down at the name tag on my book. "Maddie thats right"

"oh haavhah hey Jacob"

"sorry I am not good with names. You know the other day, why were you crying? we never got to talk about it"

"Oh ahh, can you keep a secret?"

"yeah sure anything"

"umm well you know that house at the end of the road, you know the one that everyone calls the 'Haunted House' as such?"

"yeah"

"well I think I woke up in it. Yeah I found heaps of strange but fascinating things. And then there was a chest" my voice was shaking "and in the chest was a...a" I burst out crying.

"shh shh its alright, please don't cry, what was in the chest?"

"A....a...a girl, a dead girl" Jacob looked shocked, I carried on. "I think she had been stabbed she had a note it said umm" I burst out crying again.

"Shh shhhh its alright what did the note say?"

"Yo....you will be next, I mean whaat does that even mean, why was I the one to be in there and find the girl." I said still crying.

"Shh shhhh its alright, how about we go to that coffee shop down the road I will get you a Hot chocolate or a Coffee. Would you like that?"

"Oh you really don't have to"

"no its alright, My treat come on"

"Thanks Jacob your a really nice guy."

We were sat at a small black table waiting for our drinks.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No please no, ah I better go" I said glancing down at my black wrist watch.

"No I am sorry, we don't have to talk about it." I sat back down. "So what classes are you taking in uni at the moment?" I knew Jacob was trying to change the subject, but I went with it.

"Umm well I am actually studying a music degree at the moment"

"oh cool, how is your song writing going?"

"good yeah, Heres some lyrics that I have written recently" I give him a piece of paper saying

"Wow very good, Who's it about?"

"Oh ah no one" I took the paper back off him and slid it into a folder and back in my bag.

"Oh yum" I said taking my hot chocolate out of Jacobs grip and placing it down on the glass table top. "Thanks"

"All goods I am glad you like it" Jacob said with a smile on his face.

As I finished the last sip of my hot chocolate I glanced down at my watch "mm ahh I better go, its getting late"

"Oh yeah sure I will give you a lift"

"Cool thank you"
