MIA'S POV
"Nat!"
"Natalie!"
I was walking up the stairs to Natalie's room to get ready for the first day of our last year of high school. We have been best friends since fifth grade, and we've been waiting for our senior year together ever since.
I open her door, expecting her to be up and ready right when I walk in.
"So, what are you gonna wear today? Are you going to straighten or curl your hair? Daring or natural makeup?" I was already in Natalie's walk-in closet, but when I looked over, she was sound asleep in her bed. I roll my eyes and groan.
"Nat! Wake up!" I walk over, grab a pillow, and hit her right in the face. Her eyes flutter open for half a second, but then moans and falls right back into sleep.
"God, why do you have to be such a deep sleeper?" I question to myself, hitting her several more times.
"Because that's how God made me, Mia." She begins to laugh and rubs her eyes, sitting up. "What time is it?"
I'm already walking back to her closet, then I answer, "It's 8:15. Why do you have to have so much clothes?" She jumped out of bed, throwing off her blue comforter.
"Shit! I wanted to wake up at 8!" Natalie stopped for a moment, "And stop questioning everything!" She pushed me out of the way and walked right into her closet.
"Okay.. This, this, and.. these." Natalie said, grabbing a Vineyard Vines t-shirt, some jean shorts, and Tory Burch sandals. She walked into her bathroom, closing the door.
"I think I'm gonna have my hair up today, and.. natural makeup." Natalie yelled through the door. I walked over to her mirror, I had to make sure I looked okay, it was the first day back from summer. I was wearing a white Ralph Lauren Polo, coral colored shorts, and Chacos. My long, dirty blonde hair was straightened, and I decided to only wear mascara today.
About 15 minutes later, Natalie came out of the bathroom, and I looked up from my phone. She had her long, medium-brown hair pulled back in a high ponytail. It was obvious she was wearing makeup, but it didn't look bad or tacky. I stand up and we both immediately walk over to the mirror, scanning ourselves one last time.
"Alright. We're both hot. And we are ready to go." Nat said, turning to the door and walking out.
We both climb into my yellow X-Terra, immediately blasting the radio. The song "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line is on.
"Why does summer have to end?" Nat whines.
"Too much of a good thing can be bad sometimes."
Nat rolls her eyes and begins humming to the catchy tune.
When I park my car, Natalie immediately jumps out to greet our three other friends, Lily, Addy and Emily.
Lily is the first one to run towards us, her medium length red hair bouncing on her shoulders.
"Nat, you have to come see this guy!"
