"It's not a fair world today." I said.
"No shit, Sherlock." Raelyn scolded.
"Hey, I'm just saying," I began. "For girls; If we don't think we're pretty, we're looking for attention. If we do think we're pretty, we're a stuck up bitch. It's such a double standard. People tell us girls to be confident and to feel beautiful all the time, but then other girls tear them down out of jealousy and hate. So, we can either have confidence and be hated for it or have no confidence and still be hated because we're an easy target."
"Yeah," Daniel cut in. "It's not easy for guys either."
Benjamin cleared his throat and started to explain for Daniel and the girls. "For guys; We can't cry because then we're a pussy. The same with having to take pain. If guys have interest in fashion, classic romance, hair, or shopping, we're automatically 'gay.' We're supposed to be manly; muscles, very fit, going to gyms, etc. A lot of people think that we don't get our hearts broken because 'we're a guy and we're assholes.' Supposedly, we always lie and cheat."
"It's so stupid . ." Avery muttered.
"Life's stupid." Daniel countered.
That was something all of us always agreed on. Life sucked, plain and simple. It's not we hated it so much that we would ever kill ourselves - Heavens, no. But sometimes it was too overwhelming for us. Stereotypes, expectations, needing to get good grades to look smart, etc.
Before I get ahead of myself, let me explain who's who.
First, there's Raelyn Ashatu. - the oldest of the group. She's seventeen and has one older brother, Kevin. He's a cool kid - smart. Anyways, Rae (that's her nickname) is a short person, not the shortest in the group - that's me, but still short. Five foot, four inches. She has short, dyed, dark, red hair that's a little longer than her shoulder's. She has grey eyes and peach-like skin.
Second, there's Daniel Torute. - the second oldest. He's also seventeen and is an only child, like me. He has a nickname, too - Danny or Dan. He's also the tallest of the group. He's six foot, three inches. (Yeah, Rae and I are like midgets standing next to him). He has blue hair, dyed of course, that's usually in a short mohawk. He has a nose piercing, the ring one. His bright green eyes and pale skin match, too.
Third, there's Benjamin Fet - the second youngest. He's sixteen, like me. He has a younger sister who's in fifth grade - sweet girl to me, pain for Ben. He's the second tallest of the group, standing at five foot, seven inches. He has dark brown hair that's very shaggy and what people would call 'emo-style.' (Stupid stereotypes). He has bright, baby-like blue eyes that can convince anyone and pale, ghost-like skin.
Finally, there's me - Avery Johnson, the baby of the group. I'm sixteen and is an only child (and hating it). I'm the shortest, standing at five foot, two. (My mom's family is short, okay?) I have black hair with purple bangs that reach a little above my shoulders. I have olive eyes and a very light, natural-born tan.
Now that you know my group, maybe you'll start to understand a little more later on. Believe me, there will be a lot more. So, buckle your seatbelts. The story is just beginning.
