“HELP!!!!!  …… HELP ME!!!!!” I shrieked.

“I’m being abducted! HELP!” I screamed. The design continued to burn in my arm. Wait! BURN!!. “ARRRGGGHHH!! I’m on fire. HELP!! “I roared.

The glowing lasted about 3 mins and very soon it started to fade. After sometime I was back in my dark room trembling with fear. The door to my room flew open revealing two faces with expressions of fear, concern, horror and sleep.

“What happened? Who’s hurt?” Asked my dad as he ran in armed with a baseball bat.

“Sweety are you ok? Did you have one of those nightmares?”  Asked my mom.

When she asked me about my nightmares I knew she was talking about the dreams I get on the night my real parents died. I told myself that this was not the time to think about that and that I had greater problems.

“Mom … Glow …. Burn …..Mark …..Fire…!” I stammered. Unable to control myself.

“Sweety relax. Please. Breathe. Talk slowly and tell us everything” she said with a look of great concern.

“I started to glow brightly then this mark came upon my hand and it hurt so badly” I said putting out my left hand to show them.

“Aaaw my baby had a nightmare! But poco its time you grow up and stop screaming like a girl when this stuff happens” said my mom in her baby voice.

“Mom! I’m serious can’t you see this …… this ………this mark?” I said

“There is nothing on your hand now go sleep.”

“What do you mean there is nothing on my hand its right here!” I said as I pointed it out. “The mark is 3 inches long! “ I yelled out.

“Now don’t use that tone on me” my mom said firmly.

“There is nothing on your arm and you are obviously just imagining things” put in my dad who had being standing next to her all along annoyed by the fact of losing his good sleep. (Good now he’ll know how it feels like to lose good sleep)

“But it’s right ---“ I tried to argue but was cut off.

“Look I have a big day tomorrow and I need sleep can we talk about this tomorrow” my mom begged.

“But mom -------“ I tried again.

“No talking sweety. Good night” she said as she blew me a flying kiss and exited the room followed by my dad.

Last night was horrifying I didn’t catch a wink since I was up all night scared it might happen again. As soon as it was 9:00 am I shot out of bed quite aware that my mom and dad might have woken up by now.

The first place I ran to is their bed room. Not there. Ok now I’m panicking what if the aliens who tried to invade me last night saw them and soon lost interest in me! Mom, Dad the only people I love now gone. While I was lost in thoughts I heard voices downstairs. My mom’s. Oh good so she’s still alive and the person she is talking to is obviously my dad so they both are alive. Good. So maybe it was just an illusion. Stupid of me to think so. I grin to myself at how idiotically I acted last night. I slip back into my room and enter my bathroom.

Take a good long look at my handsome, smart, gorgeous etc., morning face. “I don’t know why girls at my school can’t see how awesome I am.” I muttered boastfully.

I pull up my sleeves. Bracing myself for the feel of cold water on my sleepy face. But the impact of my hand on my face never came. Before I could splash myself. My eyes fall upon the wrist of my left hand.  That’s when my worst fear was confirmed. Last night did happen. I did glow. I did float. It was not an illusion. But for some annoying  reason my mom nor my dad could see it.
