We walked side by side with out saying a single word to each other.
We stopped when we reached a door with a sign that read: 'Authorised Personal Only'. Harry reached for the handle. It clicked quietly and the door eased open. "This school is terrible at locking things up," he smiled a mischevious smile.
The light from the hallway behind us slowly filled the small room and I saw that is was no bigger than a broom closet. The sudden breeze wafted through out the room and stirred up the laying dust from all of its hidding places.
Mountaed on the oposite wall to us, was a window that looked down into another room and beneath the window was a large control pannel. Harry clicked the door shut and locked it from the inside. I jumped slightly.
"Haha calm down, I'm not here to murder you or anything."
"Good, because I would feel incredibly stupid for falling for your cleché trap."
"Yeah, remind me not to go into a horror film with you."
Harry strode over to the control pannel and took a seat in one of the swivel chairs.
I made my way to the window and saw that it looked down into the school's music auditorium. It was a large room with a dome shapped ceiling. It was like that because it helped the acoustics of the room, I think. "This is pretty cool, I didn't even know this room existed."
"Well if you like this, then you'll love this." He pulled out the second swivel chair and I took a seat. With a few clicks of bottoms and a few truns of dials on the control pannel, the auditorium was consumed by black.
I was itching with anticipation.
Suddenly, images started playing on the walls of the big room. Hundreds of thousans of stars and strange planets were spinning on the surfaces of the place. I felt as if I was floating through outer space. "Woah."
I could feel Harry looking at me with that famous smirk of his playing across his face. "Not bad, eh?"
"Not bad? It's amazing. How did you know about this?"
"I overheard some dipshits in the the astronomy club boasting about how they'd planned it," he chuckled.
I leant back in my chair and watched worlds float past. It was like we were in our own strange, little bubble. A few silent minutes past but it wasn't awkward, strangley enough. It was just, I don't know, just easy.
"So," I looked in his direction. "Who knew a bad boy could like the stars?"
"Who said I liked them?"
"Well you don't look like you want to punch somebody right now."
"Early days," he said as the corner of his mouth turned up ever so slightly.
There was a beat. "So, how do you like the school?"
Am I actually talking about school? Why is school always the go to subject when you don't know someone? Society needs to change that.
"School's school."
"Why'd you choose this one?"
"Ghee, you ask a lot of questions," he sent a glance in my direction but I knew he wasn't pissed off. "Anyway, I thought you would have already known the answer to that. Or am I no longer the talk of the school?"
"No, it's still all about you," I scoff, "you, and Sophia Days."
"Are you jelous, Darling? Want me all to youself, eh?" 'Darling' obviously has different rules of use in Britain because he should not be calling me it, unless he wants to antagonise me which is what I suspect.
"You wish," I counter.
"I really don't."
I turn back to the projection.
Why did I even try talking to him. I'd have a better chance talking to a brick wall.
"The most common gossip I hear is about how I've been held back,"
Why is he talking? He basically just ended the conversation.
"I have by the way, but it's not that I'm thick or anything it's just when all the days off, because of suspention, add up; I'm kind of a little lacking in marks to pass. And I chose this school because I'm sick of everyone at my old one, not to mention my reputaion isnt great with the teachers or the students." I nod, listening but not looking in his direction. "As for Sophia, well," he let out a small chuckle, "well, you know how it is."
I roll my eyes in the dark.
Guys can be such pigs. Not that she's any better.
"What were you in detention for?" He's talking again. "That's two times in a couple weeks. I better watch out or you'll steal my bad reputation."
"No, Sledgehammer is just out to get me."
"Sledgehammer?"
"Ms. Renny."
"Shit, yeah. She's seems super uptight but I think she looks more like a blobfish than a sledgehammer."
I couldn't help myself. I started laughing, "you mean those pink globs that are actually fish?"
"Yeah! They both have the same mouths I swear!" He was laughting too, now.
Our laughter was cut short, however, when we heard an jiggle of the door handle from outside followed by the clatter of keys. "Shit, " Harry muttered. I was standing up now.
Harry quickly pushed some buttons on the panel and the orange lights once again filled the auditorium. The illusion shattered.
"What are we going to do?!" I whisper shouted. "I'll get another detention." There was no where to hide and my pulse was beating all the way in my ears.
"Umm." Even Harry looked un nerved. "This." Harry clasped his hands on either side of my face and before I knew what was happening his lips were crushed up against mine. I was backed up against the control pannel, now. He moved his hands to my hips and our lips started to move in sync. "Hey! You two! Out!" Our lips dettached and I saw the short school janitor standing in the doorway with his mop in hand. Harry grabbed my hand and swiftly trailed me outside the room. "Sorry, Sir," Harry grinned.
"I better not see you two in here again, you'll have to find somewhere else to do that."
"Yes, Sir."
The little man grumbled to himself and shut the door in our faces. I stood, stunned. Harry dropped my hand. "You're welcome by the way," he smirked.
"For what?!"
"For actually thinking of something, unlike you." I shook my head in ammused disbelief. "You're not a bad kisser by the way. Not great, but, hey."
"You're unbelievable..."
"Well believe it. Come on, Trouble, we better get out of here."
