~Vanoss' POV~

We stopped at a neighbors yard, contemplating on whether we should go in or not.

"I don't think it would hurt, going in and raiding it, who knows, maybe we could find food." Tyler explained as we walked closer to the door.

A rasping was coming from inside, as Tyler put his hand on the doorknob I got an uneasy feeling.

"What if someone's in there?" I thought out loud.

"Then we'll become friends or foes." Wildcat replied pushing the door open. A creaking sound erupted from the door as we slowly made our way inside. Tyler put his hand up and we halted.

"Wait, I've seen this in movies." He quickly tapped the wall with the bottom of his knife. I rolled my eyes at his nonsense and started to step forward.

"Waittttt" he whined, grabbing my arm.

"Tyler we don't have time-" I got cut off when a grumbling noise echoed through the hall. I gripped my bat tighter as a zombie turned the corner. A tattered dress hung around her, or at least I think it's a her, maybe, I'm not sure. Her jaw hinged downward and her eyes were a dark crimson color. She made her way towards us, her right foot dragging behind her, explaining the raspy noise I heard earlier.

"I got this." I found myself whispering

"You sure?" Tyler took a quickly glance at me, and my choice of weapon.

"Yeah." I replied, taking a fighting stance, putting my right foot forward and left slightly behind me. I propped the bat on my right shoulder and got
ready to swing. The zombie quickly approached me and I let out a battle cry. I swung the bat as hard as I could and came in contact with her head. It disconnected from her neck and flew across the room, making her collapse the same direction her head went to.
A dark color of red/black which I'm assuming was old blood poured out of her missing limb. I look down at my hands and see splattered blood on them. Looking up at the bat, seeing blood slowly dripping off.

"Nasty." I spoke, turning around facing Tyler.

"Yeah, let's get necessities and go." He quickly walked off and searched through drawers. I made my to the hall where the zombie came from and went to the first room. I gagged as I saw a dead guy laying down next to the bed, his organs spilling from his stomach.A rotting smell erupted through my nose as I kick him under the bed and begun raiding the drawers. Looking through the drawers I thought about Tyler and Lui, should I trust them? Tyler seems nice but Lui is kind of iffy. Maybe give them another day or so, but then where would I go. I'm so confused in this corrupted world that I would die the instant I step outside by myself.

Pulling some batteries and a flashlight out of a nearby drawer I made my way to the other room. The walls were painted pink, the ceiling had big stars littered all around. A pink fuzzy rug was placed on the middle of the carpet; next to that a crib. The crib was a baby pink color, so light it almost was white. I slowly approached it, and what I saw next would normally scare the average person. Inside were the remaining of what used to be a baby. Bones and blood were covering every inch inside, flies flying around the rotting corpse. It's eyes were rolled back in its head, mouth gapped open. I turn around and gag, and step out. I walk across the hallway directly in front of the poor baby's room, opening the door. It was a bathroom. I grab a towel and jog back towards the infants room. I make my way forward, towards the crib.

"Did you find anything?" I heard Tyler's familiar voice echo through the hall.

"Yeah, but I'm pretty sure you don't want this." I reply pulling the towel over the remains.

"Okay?" Tyler asked uncertain, I turn and see him in the door way.

"Take a look if you really want to, but I wouldn't if I were you." I step out of the way and he looks around.

"Don't tell me this is what I think it is..." He trailed off. He walked to the crib and tugged at the towel. He silently curses under his breath.

"Whatever lets go to the next room; the kitchen." He walks out of the room with me trailing him closely. We arrive in the kitchen, taking in our surroundings. Tyler's walks towards the pantry, opening the door in one quick pull. I peek over his shoulder and see barely any food. Boxes of cereal were knock over, some cans were there, rolling back and forth.

"Shit, there's nothing here!" Tyler grumbles and grabs what's left over.

"Well if the lady, guy, and their kid were still here, does that mean someone else had been in this house before us?" I asked looking through the other cupboards, finding nothing there.

"Probably, we should probably head back too." We grab our backpacks that have what we found in them and walk towards the door. Stepping outside I feel the warm summer air flow around me, causing bushes to sway. I already felt the sun beating down on me as we walked up the road. Soft moaning noise came from a distance but I didn't mind, this moment right now was peaceful and I'm pretty sure I won't feel this again for a long time.
