Mad!

She hated his guts. She hated everything about him; his eyes, his bright red hair, his squinty smile. Yet there he was, at her brother's wedding, wearing those damn suspenders over a black button-down shirt that made him look stupid.

She wished she didn't have to see him on such a beautiful and happy day. But the fact that he was her brother's best friend AND bandmate didn't help at all. She didn't understand how those two could get along so well. They were so different! But they shared the biggest of similarity: they could act like such 6-year-olds.

"You can now kiss the bride," she heard the pastor say, and immediately shifted her gaze towards her brother Tyler and his brand new and amazingly beautiful wife Jenna. As everyone cheered at the kiss - very long and deep if you must know - she looked at him again. He whistled, smiling at the newlyweds, then put both of his hands around his mouth.

"Chill, Tyler! There are kids watching!" he yelled but then started to clap happily. A mere second later, his eyes were on hers, and she could have sworn he smiled brighter, if such a thing was even possible. He winked, and she mentally slapped herself: she could feel her cheeks burn already. But why? She hated him!

"You look beautiful today, Mads," he whispered in her ear a little later, when the wedding etiquette forced her to take his arm to walk up the aisle and out of the venue. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to pair her with this stupid groomsmaid who wasn't even able to tame his flaming hair for a wedding? Well, okay, they kind of were the only ones that were still single, so technically, it was easier. But still. Maddy Joseph and Joshua Dun? Crappy idea.

"Stop it right there," she told him through clenched teeth, only to make him giggle a little bit. And usually, giggles are cute, but his made her feel weird inside, like she was going to throw up or something.

"Why are you so tense? It's your brother's wedding, you should be hap-"

"I am happy!" she whisper-yelled, still holding a smile for the photographer that looked like more of a papparazzi right in this moment.

"Oh really? Because you just look mad to me!" he continued, visibly happier than he should be. "Get it? Mads is mad! Haha!"

She rolled her eyes, preventing an annoyed "Oh my God" to escape her lips. It wouldn't be acceptable to say such a thing out loud when they were just coming out of a church-like place, right? Any other place and she would have screamed it in his face. Oh. My. GOD. She needed out. Now.

And she pretty much managed to avoid him for the rest of the night. Sometimes, she would spot him on the other side of the room, laughing with his friends, and she would get that weird feeling in her stomach again. Same thing when all the boys starred in a theatrical choreography for the bride; weirdly, she couldn't get her eyes off him. He looked awkwardly clumsy and uncomfortable, yet so confident at the same time and those suspenders didn't make him look so stupid after all.

She shook her head. No, those suspenders were the stupidest thing to ever happen in the history of stupid fashion trends on somewhat good-looking guys. And she hated him... right?

"Would you care to offer me this dance, young lady?" his voice asked, so close to her ear that she jumped and spilled the white wine that was left in her glass. She raised an eyebrow, annoyed. Why would he want to dance with her? He didn't care about her, she knew that. So why bother?

She was on the brink of saying just that to his face when she heard Jenna's voice call her from the dancefloor. "Come on, Maddy! All couples!" And she sounded so enthusiastic, and all the other bridesmaids and groomsmaids were already pairing up on the shiny wooden floor. She couldn't get out of this. She looked up at Josh, still sporting that annoyingly bright smile, then at Jenna and Tyler, and she sighed.
