I shot up quickly out of my slumber, prespiration forming on my forehead as I gasped for air. My sudden movemnt cause Hewie to jump as well and snarl at me. I couldn't focus on that right now, I had just visioned the most vivid memories of my past? Somes past or present... Gah! I put my hand up to my forehead because I could tell that a headache was going to start soon. Moving the covers off of my body and putting my bare feet to the carpet on the floor I just sat there with my head in my hands trying to calm down my heartbeat because it was racing from my startlement. Hewie had somewhat crawled over to me and put one of his paws in my lap. He was a good boy and the best of pal when I got frightened, or felt lost. It had been a week that I stayed with Icarus and Colin and they made it feel like I had a family. Just one thing, I can't get attatched to them. I patted his head for a few minutes until both of us were startled once again at the sound of a knocing on my door. Damn.

"Hey you up?" Colin's voice was audible but quiet.

I looked over to the bedside clock to see it was only 3 A.M. and I groaned. Lifting Hewie's paw up I stood up and made my way over to the door and cracked it a bit so Hewie wouldn't start barking. Yeah,. Hewie was not a big fan of Colin's.

"Yeah, wait why are you up?" I asked out of curiousity.

"Um.. I go hunting for food this early. Game is good at dawn, they're most active during this time." He shrugged.

"Hold on, sorry." I said once I heared Hewie growling from behind.

Colin only nodded.

I looked back to Hewie who was growling so I just opened the door and stepped outside of my room to close it. Once I did I had not realised the close proximity between Colin and myself, he didn't move until I cleared my throat for him to move.

"So yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to round up that mu-" Collin had to think twice about calling Hewie a "mutt" in front of me because I didn't like it. "-Hewie, we could go hunting and leave the old man to rest."

I was somewaht interested but leaving Icarus alone in this big of a house, and yes it was jam packed with weapons of mass destruction but he's fragile.

"Uhmm.. yeah sure, just let me change and I'll meet you in the garage but Hewie will stay. Icarus seems to like having him around and Hewie likes the old man so." I nodded and opened the door back to my room and stepped inside.

Colin had a.. smile?.. he was smiling.. Wow okay umm... back to Earth Serene. I walked over to Hewie who was wagging his tail when I went over to him and place my hand on his head.

"Hey bud, I'm going to go out and get some food. I promise to be back soon." I smiled down to him.

Hewie had whined and nudged me with his nose to place his head in my hand again.

"No, not this time bud, you have to stay here today. Plus I think Icarus would miss you too much if you left him too. Will you stay for Icarus? Protect him like the fierce protector I know you are?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

Hewie wagged his tail and let out a quiet, sketchy bark I guess agreeing he would.

"That's my good boy, and I promise to bring you back something good okay?" I could only smile when I was around my dog, he is like my child during this hell on Earth that I swear to protect with my life.
