7. A Knotty Situation
"Hermione!" Nick said gently shaking me.
I awoke and looked around. Nick was laying beside me, his arms still wrapped around me. I smiled, for the third night in a row he had slept with me. Although the first night, we both just cried and the second night we didn't sleep much. But last night, we slept and he held me.
"What time is it?" I asked groggily.
"It's close to ten thirty." he said, I groaned.
"Come on, please get up. Our date is tonight." He said gently prodding me in the side. I wiggled, a smile on my face.
"Exactly, tonight!" I groaned, "Not now!"
"Come on Hermione." He said rolling himself out of bed and looking down at me.
"No." I winned.
"Yes!" He laughed and scooped me up in his arms. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp, but he held tight.
"Put me down!" I cried loudly.
"Nope." He said, a smile on his face.
He walked out of my room and down the hallway. I wiggled against him pathetically. He deposited me on the couch, setting down beside me. I nuzzled his neck lovingly with my head.
"I love you." I whispered softly, a smile creeping on my face,
"I love you too Hermione." he said shifting, my head against his neck. I tried to sit up, but something pulled my hair. I cried in surprise.
"What is wrong with you now?" Nick asked me in a mocking tone.
"My hair's stuck." I whined, he laughed and began to un-knot my hair from the necklace around his throat.
"Well, I guess you can call this a knotty situation. Huh?" I laughed after a moment. He shook his head and continued undoing my hair.
We spent the early part of the day just resting on the couch. By the time six o'clock Nick had sent me to my room to dress. He had said to wear something nice, not the usual garbage I run around in. I chose a a flawy, yellow dress and headed down to meet him. He was dressed in jeans and a plain white t-shirt.
He refused to tell me where we were going, until it came apparent to me that he was driving in circles. He finally pulled up in front of his house and took my hand. He lead me around the back of the house. A small table had been set up, as well as a sheet and projector. I gasped, it was beautiful. We sat across from each other, not really watching the movie that was playing. He took my hand gently in his.
"Do you have any dumb jokes to crack?" he asked, a small smile on his face.
"No," I said and shook my head. "This is our Happily Ever After."
He drew my face near and gently kissed me. I smiled, maybe there were Happily Ever Afters in real life. Maybe there's someone out there for everyone, even if they're mean and hateful, or if they're quarky and smart, but there's someone... There's always someone...
And They All Lived Happily Ever After!
