Tim covers his face and drops his head as all the teachers erupts in loud laughter. The whole cafeteria got quiet looking at the teacher's table.
"I can't believe you said that, Tim." Kirstie said through her laughter.
Some of the students were laughing at the teachers losing control at their table.
Avi laughs, reaching over and rubs the back of Tim's head. This gesture caused glances and smiles from Tim's students. A few of the teachers, the students knew were gay: Scott, Mitch and Avi. Only Tim's girls knew that he was.
Tim raised his head, brushing back his hair. His face a deep shade of red, causing another outburst of laughter from his fellow teachers.
"O.K., it wasn't that funny." Tim said in a low voice, smiling.
"I don't know. I thought it was pretty freaking funny." Rob said taking off this glasses to wipe his eyes.
The teachers finally calmed down and started their own conversations with one another.
Tim reaches over and pats Avi on the leg. "Uh, do you smoke?" He whispers.
"No, but Chris and Austin does. There's a place outside where everyone goes. Do you want me to show you?" Avi ask with a smile.
"If you don't mind." Tim whispered.
"No, not at all. Come on." Avi said patting Tim's leg before standing.
Tim follows him out to the smoking area. He sits down on a bench and lights a cigarette.
"Can I ask you something without offending you or getting punched in the face?" Avi ask sitting down next to him.
"Sure, I'm not a violent person." Tim chuckles.
Avi shifts uncomfortably. He still hasn't gotten use to Tim staring at him when he talks.
"Uh, are you gay?" He asked watching Tim's reaction and was relieved when he smiled.
"Yes I am." Tim answered with a smile.
"Next question. Do you have...uh." Avi paused as Tim finished the question.
"A boyfriend?" Tim asked raising an eyebrow. "No I don't. And what about you?"
"Same." Avi said with a smile. Tim's eyes moves from Avi's lips (that he was reading) to his green eyes and also smiled.
The door opens up and Chris and Austin walks out.
"Are we interrupting?" Austin said with a smirk on his face.
"We were just talking." Avi laughed, rolling his eyes. Tim was looking back and forth between the guys, trying to stay with the conversation.
"Avi, have you invited him to come to the bar with us yet?" Chris ask with a sheepish smile.
"Bar?" Tim ask looking back at Avi.
"Yea, every Friday we always meet up at a bar called Joker Joe's for a few drinks. You're more than welcome to join us." Avi said.
"I'd love to but I not at all familiar where anything is." Tim said.
"That's no problem. I'll come by and pick you up. Just give me your number and I'll call you to get your address." Avi said handing Tim his phone.
"Won't do no good to call. You'll have to text." Tim chuckles as he enters his number in Avi's phone then hands it back to him.
"Oh yea, sorry." Avi smiles.
Chris and Austin exchange looks and rolls their eyes. Avi had already taken a liking to the newbie.
"Well guys, it's about that time." Chris says putting out his cigarette.
They head inside as the bell rings. Tim notices everyone getting up from the tables.
"Did the bell already ring?" He ask.
"Yea, it just did. Come on." Avi says as they head back upstairs together.
Tim feels someone tug at his sleeve. He looks around to see Jenna, Kay, Connie and Kato.
"We ship it." Jenna says as the girls giggles and runs up the stairs.
Avi pats Tim on the arm. "What did she say?"
"Oh, nothing." Tim chuckles shaking his head.
