I heard footsteps behind me but I didn't dare look up, as Snape was hovering, making sure no fun was to be had on the Griffindor table. I kept writing, regularly dipping my quill into my ink pot, and scratched away. As I wrote, however, the steps draw nearer. I kept my head down, and continued to describe the History of Portkeys, paying as little attention as possible to the person walking down the Great Hall. I tried to push the person into the back of my mind. I heard a chair being pulled out, and someone scooting in, far away from me. After a little while, Snape left his position from babysitting me and wandered away, occasionally saying things like 'Miss Abbot, please refrain from giggling. 5 points from Hufflepuff', or 'Mr Finnigan, do try and write so that your poor professor can read it'.
After terrorizing other students, he returned to me, eyeballing the back of my head. when Professor Sprout came to take over, he left, but before he did, he decided to give me a massive bruise at the back of my head, by hitting me, with impressive force I might add, with the book he was supposedly 'reading' while supervising. When the coast was clear, I sneaked a look.
Sure enough, Draco Malfoy was sitting at the Slytherin Table. What did surprise me, however, was that he was looking at me. As soon as he noticed me noticing him, he turned to his thugs, and said in an obnoxiously loud voice;
"So, yeah, that's how I tackled the ogre who was trying to rob me..." to which, obviously rehearsed, Crabbe and Goyle replied, "Oh Draco, your so heroic! Brave as well, only YOU could have taken him on!"
I just stared at him in amazement. He is so full of himself!! I hate his guts! I slammed my book shut, and marched out of the Great Hall, shaking my head in disbelief.
I could have sworn I heard someone say, "Now look what you've done!!", as well as some grunts. I ignored it, but I know I heard the git say, "Excuse me.." and rise from the Slytherin table.
He's probably off to scare some 1st years, no doubt. I ascended the stairs 2 at a time, and I got to the top when someone grabbed my wrist. I whipped around to find Draco Malfoy holding my wrist. I yanked it out or his grasp, which seemed to upset him a little, but he got a grip, cleared his throat, and said;
"Where do you think you're going?"
I replied, wiping my hand on my robes, with "I wasn't aware that you had to be told my whereabouts, Malfoy." I continued walking away, and this time, he grabbed my wrist, and before I could pull away, he had slid his hand down, and entwined his fingers with mine. We both simply stared at the thing connected to both our arms.
"Potter..." he said softly. I gave his fingers a squeeze, to show I didn't object to this, and walked of with out looking back.
