"Tarynn..." Clara mutters, grabbing the book and holding it close.

"I said step away from the book!" Tarynn shouts, thrusting her hand towards Clara. Suddenly, Clara lets out a scream and holds her hands up to her ears. She collapses and lets the book drop to the floor.

"Clara, Clara, what's happening?" I kneel on the ground and put my hands on her shoulders.

"I... don't..." she gasps, "know... It hurts!" she cries, sobbing and screaming. Tarynn lets her hand drop to her side. She walks over to us and grabs the book from the floor.

"You can't expose me." she lets out an evil laugh.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask, sheltering Clara with my arms.

"It doesn't matter why I'm doing this," she tilts her head, "What matters is that it gets done."

She walks towards me and leans down in front of us. I cringe against her closeness, feeling threatened for the first time in my life. Her blond, curly hair dangles down in front of her eyes as she inches closer and closer.

"You don't understand what it's like to be lied to your entire life..." she whispers. "The confusion, the betrayal, the hatred. It's all terrible."

"What do you mean?" I say, "Who lied to you?"

"Everyone!" she yells, standing up and pacing across the room. "Everyone... everyone lied to me... for my whole life! How, do you possibly expect me to be okay with this?" Tarynn continues to rant and pace. I look at Clara, but she's out to it.

"You're not the only one who's been lied to your entire life," I point out, "Clara discovered Adriana's scheme, too. But she didn't go crazy over it." Well, she almost did, I think to myself.

"Crazy?" Tarynn glares at me, "You think I'm crazy?"

"No, of course not, it's just that-"

"I'm not crazy!" she paces, "I am doing what needs to be done." she looks in the distance, "No more... I've said too much already." she smirks. "Good thing you won't remember it."

She brings her hand up and all of a sudden, my vision starts to blur, sending my head spiraling with pain. My ears start to ring and I squint my eyes shut. The pain consumes me until my world is a big dark void with no light at all.
